Catania City Center Historical Building Home

The palazzo is over 400 years old and it’s obvious how much time and passion the owner and his family have taken to restore the apartment while honouring its history. Original floor tiles, beautiful crown moulding, exceptional furnishings…this building alone is an historic Catania experience in itself. Several balconies including one in the kitchen with a clothesline. Located 10 minutes from the train station and historic centre, a five minute walk to a grocery store and a multitude of shops and restaurants there is no need for a car rental unless wanting to visit the beaches. Though the front of the house faces a busy road, the apartment is very quiet and peaceful, the beds were also very comfortable. The hosts were absolutely amazing wonderful and had taken the time to make sure we were accommodated, from a well stocked kitchen (including a bottle of wine and the moat delicious Sicilian cookies) and washer machine with detergent, to a framed map with local tourist locations clearly marked with accompanying photos. Local restaurant recommendations as well as shopping, for our first visit to the city we felt extremely well taken care of. The apartment was the largest we have ever stayed at in Italy, excellent for families or for travellers that would appreciate extra space. Because of its historic nature and tasteful decor, the apartment would be best suited for families with babies or older children, not toddlers. For example there is a beautiful glass coffee table that smaller children may not be too careful with.

Property is located within a 15 minute stroll of the main centre. A beautifully presented property. Stunning original features … ceiling mouldings ; flooring 👌 Comfortable - plenty of choice to relax on either sofas or sofa bed plus beds. Beds really comfortable. Kitchen fully equipped. Washing machine and powders provided ⭐️⭐️. Up cycled use of items for some furnishings. Very comfortable ; well presented and perfect in every way and felt secure. Reactive and helpful owner providing tips if requested. Note : two flights of stairs to property.

Alessandro and his wife provided a wonderful welcome and were so helpful, also offering some great local suggestions. The apartment is beautiful, spotlessly clean, in a great central location and very well equipped.

we loved this apartment in a classic old building in Catania. It is 200 years old and shows its age from the street but then you enter through big doors off a narrow and busy street into a private courtyard, go up private stairs and enter a beautifully preserved and very spacious apartment wonderfully furnished with period book cases, a beautiful mosaic floor, high ceilings , a sitting area, and "office" area, lounges, a huge dining table...and so on. Its a " real Catania experience" and at one point a tourist wandered in when the gate was open to admire the courtyard. The hosts are an educated and cultured family and we met 3 generations all very nice people. Parking off street very safe and the apartment was quiet . We also found Catania a terrific base for visiting Mt Etna and Villa Romana and enjoyed the Bellini concert in the very lovely Badia di Saint Agathe Chruch

We didn't like leaving! Its a tight climb to the upstairs bedroom...but who cares as the downstairs area was so nice and huge and classic Catania. Its about a 15 minutes walk to a street full of restaurants and maybe 20/30 minutes to the Cathedral so if you don't like walking I guess that might be a problem

Host is very communicative, and it was very easy to collect the keys even though we got a bit delayed in reaching. The home is beautiful in a heritage building quite near the city centre. The double ceiling and huge rooms give a very grand feeling. The kitchen is well equipped and very modern.

The carpark was a little tight for our SUV - needed a bit of maneuverings to get in and out - and also a bit expensive - I feel it could have been included in the room cost, since it is a private carpark within the building. Most of the plug points are old style 3 pin style and none of the 2 pin adaptors work here. Its only in the newly renovated kitchen and loft bedroom that the standard 2 pin plugs work.
