Cabañas el gigante

Great service - Miguel even brought us breakfast to our balcony every day ( at market compensation). Great value for money. We were warm in our upstairs room because we had a block heater and many blankets. Fridge was nice for wine. Balcony, balcony couch and view were large and fantastic. The place got a new staircase.

Bad continuous Smell in bathroom. Shower water heater didn’t work - 9c showers were too refreshing.

The only positive thing about this accommodation is the view of the mountains and forest - however, this is easy to find in San José del Pacifico. Additionally, the neighbors (cafe next door) are also very nice and helpful, since they called a mototaxi for me in the middle of the night, after I had to leave the accommodation due to no electricity/light/wifi.

Unfortunately, I had a terrible and honestly disheartening experience with this accommodation. Once I arrived in the afternoon, I had to wait at least 20-30 minutes for the staff to check me in. Sitting on the terrace, I was fine reading a book and enjoying the view. After checking in we noticed that there was no electricity, light, or wifi - the staff assured me they will fix this during the day, so I went on my hike assuming it will be taken care of. I arrive at my room in the evening, only to be told that there will be no electricity, as the owner did not pay his utility bills. They kindly offered me a candle, and managed to arrange for starlink wifi (for which I was very grateful), then they left me to my own devices. Only after I pressed for a reduction in price or a full refund, did they text me, promising to fully refund my payment if I decide to leave for another accommodation (at 9 pm). Trusting in their good and honest human nature, I decided to look for another hostel, always being fully understanding of their mistake. After all, mistakes happen! They said the payment has already been refunded and is being processed by booking.com, so I decided to wait a few days. However, I didn't receive any notification or money. Perhaps they forgot or something went wrong, so I asked via WhatsApp what the status was, only to be reassured again, that it will be refunded via the same platform. Again, I trusted their fake friendliness. After I reached out for the 3rd or 4th time, after more than 2 weeks, they never responded and even blocked me on WhatsApp! I asked a friend to text them and see whether their phone was merely turned off, only showing one check in my whatsapp, however my friend's messages went through. Mine did not. The only way I got my money back was thanks to the protective services of PayPal. About the room: Funky smell in the bathroom, riggety wooden stairs down to the rooms, which do not seem safe.

Got there after check-in time and no one was there and couldn't get hold of anyone for over an hour. There was no wifi. The stairs going to our room were terrible and had no railings. I will not be staying there again.

The guy was very friendly and helpful.

There was no key to the Flat. The wooden stair broke and I hurt myself because of it. The balustrade broke too.

The Cabañas were conveniently located for a stop on the way from Oaxaca City to the coast. The terrace offers a nice view on the surrounding mountains.

Our room smelled like wet dog and was very humid. The bathroom was very small and inconvenient - for example because the door opens to the inside of the very tiny room and the mirror is not above the sink but mounted to the door on the opposite side. There was a huge graffiti of a huge spider on the wall of the bedroom, definitely nothing for people with arachnophobia. Our friends had booked another room and the owner could not offer them a key to lock it. Instead, he said he would be there all the time to take care no one enters. They put all their stuff into our room when we went for dinner. Luckily, because when we came back the owner was sound asleep and did not wake up from us entering... There is no place to park along the main road, only a way to small space which leaves the car sticking out dangerously far onto the road.

The dogs around the property. The people next door playing loud music until 1am and starting again at 8am. I’m not sure if they were visiting or lived there.

The view is amazing and the host provided great service with morning coffee delivery. He was always available to call a taxi and offered local services. The bed was comfortable and the internet was strong.

The room was really cold and the toilet had no seat.
