Unzen Iwaki Ryokan

We had a group of 7 adults and 1 infant. We had breakfast twice and dinner once with the hotel, the food and presentation were absolutely amazing and definitely something I would recommend. The Onsen was very special, they have an outdoor and indoor option, both being very nice facilities. We booked a Japanese style rooms and Western style rooms and both were delightful. The staff were very helpful. Overall a wonderful experience.

Some of the facilities could do with an update i.e. sheets and towels are worn out

The hotel located right next to the bus stop coming from/going to Shimabara and is also extremely close to the other attractions nearby. There is a small section in the room where you could sit and enjoy the scenery. There are indoor and outdoor bath too.

The room is small, making it difficult to move once futons are put down, especially the space between the toilet and living area. Additionally, there are people who smoke inside the rooms on the same floor as us, and I think they leave their doors open while smoking, causing the hallway on our level to be filled with tobacco smells. Fortunately, there is a section before the bed/living room, so the smoke did not enter our room directly. The outdoor onsen is small and can only occupy 4 to 6 people at once.
