Guest House Koundo

The house is classic japanese and very well mantained. We only spent one night so we couldn't enjoy more but the host was extremely attentive.

Good location. The host tried his best to communicate with English which was much appreciated. He was very kind and allowed us to continue parked even after check out.

The views from the accomodation itself aren't anything of note but it's so close to everything that lack of views are hardly a downside.

This was a beautiful home in excellent condition! We stayed at 7 different accommodations in Japan and this was easily the best one! Accommodation included a bedroom, bathroom and living room area - we loved the heated table in the living room! Beds were comfy, all regular amenities accounted for, quiet property.

We specifically chose this property because of it's proximity to the Kanmangafuchi Abyss, and it was close to the abyss, so we really enjoyed that - I think most travelers would find the house a tiny bit "off the beaten path," but we thought it was lovely and really just a few minutes walk from the bus stop/shops.

Good location

Firstly it's not a house but a homstay...you will share a house with an owner (an old man)who lives on the first floor..and just for you know the kitchen is not for guests you can't cook and no cutlery to eat.and there is no separation/lock between the second floor and the first..so no privacy..the beds aren't the softest.....

We had a wonderful stay at Guest House Koundo. The rooms are clean, very comfortable (we experienced the most comfortable beds here during our entire Japan trip!) and stocked with everything you could possibly need. You stay on the top floor of the property and the host lives on the ground floor. The location is excellent - in a quiet part of town with a nearby bus stop if needed, otherwise the temple complex is only a short walk away. The host is an older gentleman who speaks a little English and was very helpful and kind during our stay, helping us to make a dinner reservation. We highly recommend a stay here :)
