karavan saray historical 18th century hotel

The staff were super friendly and very helpful even when I arrived a little late in the evening. I asked where the closest shop to buy a bottle of drinking water was, they gave me access to their drinking water filter tap to fill my bottle for free which was thoughtful. I had to leave before breakfast time. The internal courtyard looked cosy and a nice place to relax if I had had time. I paid for their airport transfer the next day and this was on time and the driver was professional. Very short overnight stay en route out of Uzbekistan, but I will definitely be staying here the next time I'm in Bukhara. Lovely place.

The location and the building itself

The management. The place is poorly managed and maintained. The night I arrived they gave me the wrong room, not the one I booked, the bathroom was filthy, full of hairs, disgusting, no hot water. Next day they told me that room was not for guests and apologised. I changed room but no hot water either. Another room change and they gave me a superior room in order to have hot water but paid the same price. The breakfast was poor and always the same: fried egg with sausages and bread. One day at 8 (time for breakfast) they still needed to buy the ingredients; next day ran out off gas so, no fried egg. I told them the day i arrived that i would probably stay another extra night and they said ok. The day I confirmed, they said the hotel was fully booked for a group of 76 people but there were plenty of rooms available on booking. They said I could book it but i will need to move to another hotel they have. The place as a lot of potential but really needs a better management. They are really weird.

I didn't get the room i booked on the first night, facilities and type of room and bed were not the same as booked; the bathroom was not clean, full of hairs, disgusting; no hot water! Then, the next day, they told me that the owner said that room was not for guests...they gave me another room but no hot water either...changed again and that room was a superior room in order to have hot water but paid the same price i booked. They gave me a 5usd discount for the inconvenience. But then, breakfast was poor and always the same thing...at 8 i needed the breakfast they still needed to buy the ingredients, i left the place that morning later than it was supposed to. Next breakfast no fried egg because they got out of gas (and breakfast was basically bread, sausage and one fried egg). The day I arrived i told them that i would maybe stay another night and they said ok. But when i confirmed they said they were receiving 76 people at the hotel and no rooms...I checked on booking and they were plenty to book...they said i could book but i will need to move to another hotel they have. The place as a lot of potential but with this kind of management is not easy.

History of building, location minutes away from important old city sights. Loved exploring old lanes and finding beautiful buildings being restored

Coach loads of tourists. Sorry I prefer lone travelling but appreciate The Old Silk Road is a must for many.

В номере темно, холодильника нет. Кухня общая с горой немытой посуды. Связь постоянно пропадала. Мебель в номере старая и уставшая. Розетки на одной стенке, а не возле кроватей как заявлено.
