Hakuba Eagle Lodge

Location was pretty good. The area around the Hotel was very pretty. Beds where comfortable,

No Fridge in the room. Need more shelf space in the carboard.

Our stay was comfortable, the location was central, breakfast was great and staff were very helpful. A fabulous group stay in Hakuba!

The owner was really nice, picked us up from the bus stop. Beds were comfy enough, water pressure good.

The property and rooms have not been kept up. They desperately need to be refreshed. Walls peeling off, mold in the window frame, heater gave off very odd smell. One of the beds was smaller than single bed, bathroom is tiny (if you’re 6ft+ you’ll be bending down), no Japanese toilet (sad), wifi does not work in rooms at all and poor data signal. The common rooms are bare, no one sits there for a reason. The breakfast is just corn flakes and toast… very sad!

Brilliant value for money. Amazing location, walking distance to the lifts.

The younger guests can be a bit noisy sometimes late at night.

If you manage your expectations you will love this place. Graeme and the staff could not be more helpful if they tried. As Graeme explains on arrival - this is a lodge, not a hotel or apartment. Plan to simply use your room to sleep, store your clothes and for the bathroom and you'll be right. The included breakfast (toast, cereal, juice, coffee) suited us perfectly. Bar facilities are good, including the pizza. There are plenty of lounges to use to relax in rather than using your room. Right across the road is the shuttle stop with direct shuttles to few resorts, otherwise catch one to Happo-one Bus terminal to catch the V1/V2 coaches to all resorts. You can also walk 10 mins to Kokusai lift. We used Spicy Ski rentals (<100m up the road), great service and gear met our needs. Pick-up and drop off at the Bus Terminal with prior arrangement was extremely useful.

Cash or wize transfer are the only payment methods at the bar and restaurant, be prepared. This will probably differ from person to person, but believe it or not, we found the room hot. We never turned the heater on and opened the window to cool down. Quilts are heavy duty, which I think many people will love, but I was too hot in bed. Whilst it would be nicer if it was located closer to facilities around the Bus Terminal, it's about a 15 minute walk which if you are prepared for (proper snow shoes) is not too bad.

Affordable in comparison to other options when we booked. Convenient bus stop for the free shuttle opposite the lodge. They happily dropped us to the bus terminal on our way home. The room was a good size with a large double bed. We could control the heat in the room. There was a heated ski storage room downstairs. Coin laundry was available and easy to use.

The bathroom was very small. The rooms weren’t cleaned at all during our stay. We did get some fresh towels from reception when we asked.

Great location - close to shuttle stops and 14 minutes walking distance to Sakka slope/chairlift but my favorite thing about Eagle Lodge was the staff! The two women that helped us were so sweet and accommodating. They even arranged a shuttle for us to the train station after we checked out. The breakfast is basic but it’s free and provides fuel for the slopes.

I can’t really complain, it was a very good price and it’s a lodge. If you’re expecting a 5 star hotel look elsewhere. We had all our own toiletries so that wasn’t an issue but I guess the wifi in our room was very spotty.

Quality pizza. Good option if you are on a budget and want to be close to the ski slopes.

Beds were too soft and the room was very tight for 2 people. Breakfast could have more options.
