"Cheap, cheerful and ideal for a few days in hakuba!"

7.0

Friendly and helpful Aussie owner with breakfast included - cheap and cheerful with own bathroom per room.

Rooms are small, but each do have their own bathrooms! The ski lockers are not very convenient - down the stairs and really should have rubber mats for tiles as it’s a safety hazard with ski boots

"Budget accommodation in a good location"

6.0

The location and proximity to Happo One and bus shuttle stop to other ski resorts within 5-10 min walk. Also a couple of restaurants/ pub nearby. The included continental breakfast of coffee cereal and toast was nice. The manager Graeme was very nice and helpful - picked and dropped us to the bus terminal, helped with a phone booking, gave great tips.

The place was rundown, the rooms small. It would have been nice to have the basics like a bath mat, hand towels, a hair dryer and a kettle. If you are simply after a room to sleep, it’s fine and the heating warm, hot shower no problem. However the overall cleanliness of the lodge was lacking. Room carpets, stairways, common areas looked dirty and dusty no evidence of cleaning in 4 nights which would be expected in snowy / wet weather and heavy foot traffic.

"A brilliant week!"

10.0

Exactly what you needed for a week in the snow, was hard to find affordable accommodation in Hakuba but this exceeded expectations! Graeme is a great host and the bar staff were so lovely- will recommend this place to anyone travelling to Hakuba in the future.

Can’t fault the place really.

"Definitely not it for us, but if you're a minimalist & like confined spaces, you'll LOVE it!"

4.0

Location was within walking distance to 2 different HappoOne Ski lifts which was good & there was a bus stop across the road for the Shuttle Bus to go to the other slopes in Hakuba. The bartender Summer was awesome and if it wasn't for the absolute legend Sergio, the taxi driver that works there, we'd probably still be walking around Hakuba in the freezing cold trying to find somewhere to eat! Thanks for all the rides you gave us Serg, you're a lifesaver!!

Extremely poor communication from the property. Had to send them multiple emails before I even got a response back and when I did, it was very blunt and didn't answer the most important question I had, which was regarding a late check in. I didn't arrive at the lodge until 1AM, and although it states they have 24hr reception, I wanted to make sure we would be able to get into our room with no hassles after 20 hours of travelling. After repeated attempts asking this question and getting no response I (stupidly) assumed it would be ok. Unfortunately, this was not the case. We arrived and rang the bell multiple times, called out, rang the bell some more, yelled out and rang the bell louder and louder, and got nothing! Tired and frustrated we tried opening the office door, that luckily was unlocked, which is where we found the manager Graeme, asleep on the floor. After waking him up we were bluntly told, "You're in room 311. Key is in the door. We'll do the full check in in the morning." He should have just replied to any one of the emails I sent and told us that beforehand, instead of snapping at us when he got woken up! Photos of the rooms on websites are not genuine and quite misleading. I understand that all rooms in Japan are small, but come on, really? 2 single beds, 1 bedside table and 1 lamp is all that fitted in the room. Not even a spot to put suitcases or any room to open them up unless you put it up on your bed! We were given 1 towel each for a 7 day stay and when we asked for new towels, we were told they cost 200 Yen?? The whole place is in desperate need of an update and if you go there in winter for skiing/snowboarding, be super careful when walking into the building and down the corridor to the lift & reception area in your ski/snowboard boots. Slippery tiles with snow/ice and ski boots are so not a good combination!! Sorry Eagle but we won't be back anytime soon.

"Satisfactory"

7.0

This was a great location, nice and close to the slopes and a free shuttle bus for the other resorts. Cool bar down stairs with really good pizzas, but a little pricey. Storage room downstairs for snow gear

A little out dated, our bedroom window had a crack in it, we received a king single sheet on a double bed which was a little harder to chase up than it should have been and the bathroom had dirt on the walls. Wifi was also non-existent in our room which was a little annoying as it’s advertised that there’s wifi. Could do with a few more hooks on the walls or even a shelf would help heaps. But otherwise not too bad at all considering the price of other accommodations in the area.
