Jungle River Lodge

Friendly staff and owner. It was her birthday and she served everyone a slice of cake which was really nice of her! The place is very scenic and peaceful. You can jump in the river or chill in the pools and it’s really close to the entrance to the loop trail in Pico Bonito national park. It’s rustic but well maintained. Fair price overall. Comfortable bed, clean shower. Wifi was mostly good.

Upon check out they wanted to charge me 5$ extra but after I showed them my booking confirmation they stuck to the original price. It’s a bit remote so you need to check the bus schedule to avoid getting stuck or paying a fortune to take a cab. Food was ok but could definitely be better and felt a bit overpriced.

Absolutely outstanding location directly on the river. Caty and her beautiful staff are tremendous. Lovely food. A tremendous location to hang for a few days or more!!!

Amazing place on the river. They help you organize all activities and they serve food. I did the rafting, which was amazing! Instructor Juan made me feel very safe. I also did the hike to the waterfall on my own, which is very doable although you don't meet many other people on the trail. Great food!

Because the lodge is quite remote, you don't have many opportunities to eat outside and food can be a bit pricey for Honduran standards. Be prepared to accept this or bring your own food :-)

Fantastic location on the gorgeous Rio Congrejal and by the Pico Bonito National Park. Superb whitewater rafting adventure right from the lodge, with very experienced and fun guide. Great hiking (but few options). Spacious and pleasant common areas encouraging relaxing, engaging with others if one likes, having a picnic, and playing games. The logistics worked well for our group of 6 family members staying in 3 rooms. The breakfasts and dinners we ate there were tasty and good for the prices charged.

Some staff seemed new and others not well motivated. In one case, we were given the key to the wrong room which led to billing complications - however, these were worked out in a friendly manner. One of the double rooms was tiny and had no hot water and no setup for it, which puzzled staff as well as us. There was a notable shortage of blankets. Breakfast meal prep was slow and orders were missed. I'm hoping this was just an off time for the team, because this place could be a *fabulous* option for groups and singles alike.
