Hotel Ocho Barrios

We picked one of the rooms with garden view (room 8 or Santa Lucía), it was pretty nice, the bed was comfy, linen in pristine condition, spacey bathroom with basic toiletries. All in order with the room. The hotel was originally a beautiful, big house nowadays expanded and partitioned into hotel rooms, a second building is placed by the entrance with smaller rooms, plus a full house (rented for a whole family or group) with its own veranda, hammock, garden, entrance and all the works. Having said that, the big treat comes with service: both the owner (Antonio) and the staff are amazing guests, not only friendly, knowledgeable and easy talkers, they really get out of their way to help you. They are flexible when responding to your needs, and client-oriented, you actually feel pampered. A simple example: I am vegan, and there were no (evident) vegan options in the breakfast menu. All possibilities were egg plus something (ham, mushrooms, cheese, etc) in the shape of an omelet or scrambled. Apart from that, they offer fruit, coffee and the most amazing home-made mango marmalade in a small pot with toast. So, I thought I could perfectly make do with all that and call it a breakfast. But the all of a sudden I was served mushrooms cooked with tomato, onions and herbs, perfectly vegan and, honestly, quite yummy. So, it was a treat, a great surprise, and I appreciated how they accommodated to my needs. Location is another plus, you are within walking distance to most attractions in San Cristóbal, with the perk of not being in the noisy, super hectic touristy blocks. You just walk a couple of blocks and you find yourself in the middle of the historical district's art galleries, sophisticated cafeterias, restaurants offering food from lots of world and local cuisines, etc. We really had a fantastic time there. Nothing, everything was great.

we liked the little apartment were we stayed whit a fireplace and a porch with a nice little garden ,very well mantain mexican style rustic hacienda, we really loved that is a walking distance to the center, the plaza and the artesanal market, everithing is on walking distance very close to the andador as well (pedentrian turistic area restaurants shop bars and nightlife)we will definitely stay there again!! and very nice staff as well thanks! ps good internet 60mega! street parking very secure and quiet area alwais available spaces.

Everything. Prívate entrance to The apartament. Also the staff was fantastic. Really helpful, caring and nice to us, specially Luis. The house is fantastic, the kitchen is perfect.

Ocho Barrios was far better than expected! The staff was very attentive, meeting our needs above and beyond expectation. We travel to San Cristobal at least 6 times per year for holidays, and although this was our first time staying at this property we will certainly stay there for all future trips.

The only thing that would make Ocho Barrios better would be locating it closer to the square..
