Lake Shafer Resort

Location was great... Loved having access to BBQ grill , lake , park. Pool .

8 was the max for the cabin. 4 was comfortable for my family.and Ii.

Very close to the park, and I love that it was bought by a family who also loves Indiana Beach and wants to preserve the memories for future generations

The owner herself is very very kind, however, the people she has on the property were the problem. Majority of the resort is still being renovated, so there’s construction happening. Upon working out a check in issue with the owner, I was met with a banging on my door and a random guy covered in paint and dust…eating a taco…asking me if I had checked in…He didn’t introduce himself, and I was alone with my children, so feeling very uncomfortable; I gave limited information. I’m assuming that was an employee who’s renovating but I have no idea why he thought that was acceptable. On top of that- a lot of the property reeked of weed. There was a patio outside of our room and multiple times throughout the stay, the smell was intense. By the pool, outside our room, inside the room when the air would turn on. I have no issues with what people do on their own time, but considering Indiana Beach is meant for children, and I had my asthmatic child with me- it was an issue. There were multiple issues with the AC unit, doors not shutting, handles being broken, and a CRAZY amount of bugs; especially in the bathroom. We stayed in the nicest option they had for a family of 5 and the stairs to get up and down were a lot, with a stroller, coolers, luggage…I absolutely could have missed the warning when booking, but at the end of a long day at the park; it’s a struggle to get everything down to the room unless you’re leaving things in the car instead. Again, the female owner couldn’t be nicer, but for the amount we paid, which was a lot for one night; there’s no reason we should have had the experience we did. Hopefully they make changes that would make us want to come back in the future.

My family of 4 enjoyed the space, paddle boat and pool. We had #12 which was 2bed 1 bath, perfect amont of space. Beach towels were also available by the pool. Close to the amusement park as well. The owners Jim and Lora made sure we needed everything we needed. We will definitely be back next year!
