Casa Vainilla Holbox Island

The owner was very hospitable. He supplied beach towels when asked.We were on the top floor , and our view was very nice. He arranged for taxis at our request. Overall he did a good job to make our stay pleasant. The owner also spoke English which was a big boost.

There was no drinking water in the apt. In order to purchase we had to walk quite a distance to a store and lug these huge jugs back to the unit. Not good. No space to store clothing. The owner needs to place a bureau or something for the clothes the rest in. Location was very far from restaurants and stores.and since one must walk or get a taxi was an annoyance. No shelving in the shower, we had to place our soap and shampoo on the floor of the shower.

Great little place. Host was very friendly and communicative. Very attentive housekeeping. The location is very nice if you want to outside the hustle of downtown but is just a short walk to the beach and restaurants. I would recommend Casa Vainilla!

The staff was exceptional. The rooftop common area is wonderful. Location is far enough from town that the club music does not disturb sleep, but close enough to easily walk.

Not the properties fault, but the streets are full of water holes making them impassable.

The room was very spacious and the shared rooftop was lovely. The wifi was pretty reliable for an island.

The pool was closed for maintenance. Had we known this in advance, we would not have booked. In addition, we were told it would be 100 pesos extra a night for the remote to be able to use the air con. When we queried this the staff member was quite unpleasant.

It wasn’t downtown but close enough to walk. Downtown gets lively at night, so good to be in a little seclusion. It’s also right around the corner from the beach in a section that isn’t super crowded. Great to go take a swim and come back. The room was spacious and had great AC and good high powered ceiling fan. Each day it was cleaned by a nice lady. Was excellent having a frig to keep drinks cold and put takeaway food. Lastly, the WiFi worked great!

***Not fault of the property, but when it rains, the city becomes a swamp, so prepare. Also, again no fault of the property, but expect American prices in holbox. That was a shock for me after spending time in other parts of Mexico.

Absolutely amazing stay! I wish we could have stayed longer - it was a perfect location 1 min from beach and 7min walk into town , which was ideal as it was lovely and quiet. The host Alex was so kind, the cleaning lady was exceptional and cleaned the room immaculately daily. The decor was gorgeous - very Mexican, colourful and bright. And they had a great roof top to relax and drink wine on. It was the perfect island getaway! Thank you so much.

Very cutely decorated hotel with a lot of attention to details. Super friendly and helpful host and great location.

A lot of mosquitoes especially at the entrance - but it’s a problem island wide, so bring repellent!

The room is big and very nicely decorated. Good shower and bed is big and comfortable. You also have access to a good rooftop terrace from where you can watch the sunset. The swimming pool is big enough if you want to relax after a day at the beach. The owner is nice and gave us useful information on the island.

No A/C so you need to sleep with the windows open for air which is can get quite noisy due to the street near by. There are also no blinds in the room so be prepared to get woken up very early in the morning.
