Guests highly rate the excellent food and frequently praise the friendly and helpful staff.
AUWe thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The food was excellent and plenty. There is a house reef right out front for snorkelling. We saw turtles, black tip reef sharks and many species of fish. The owner Lisias speaks some English and is a good communicator through Whatsapp. It was easy to organise excursions and Lisias and his family were very accomodating and made our stay comfortable. Lisias went out of his way to find manta rays for us when other dive boats had given up. If you're looking for a relaxing, cultural experience we highly recommend this homestay.
ESGreat location.Great host. He also took us and other friends from another homestay to amazing snorkelling sites.

SK- very friendly owners and staff - nice variety of food and tasty - location is nice and quiet - when is high tight you can swim just in front of bungalows, coral reefs are close by - bungalow is basic but you have everything you need, plus a private bathroom is a great bonus - make sure you go diving with AWOM BROTHERS, the diving master OTTO is a local legend with more than 30 years of experience and he will take you to a fantastic secret spots with no other divers
- the bed was not that comfortable, I would suggest to replace a mattress
USWe (a couple) stayed here for a whole week in January 2025 with two friends. Accommodation is very basic, however, it came with a toilet and private shower which wasn't offered at our other place we stayed on in Gam, so a+ for a toilet. The owners were friendly and very helpful with helping us fix/arrange anything we needed. For example, my husband had gotten food poisoning from something he ate in Bali and they helped us go to the hospital. A toilet seat was missing and they sorted it immediately. We went on three trips with them to these places: Friwen Wall, Yenbuba Jetty, Cape Kri (which is about 5 minutes away), Manta Point (twice), Melissa's Garden along with Piaynemo, and Sauwandarek village. The guide Afek was great and an amazing swimmer who could freedive quite deep. He pointed out anything he spotted and was very hospitable and accommodating. He was such a nice guy and although there was a language barrier, it was easy to tell he was really genuine. Prepare long sleeve clothes as we got swarmed by jellyfish at Cape Kri. Other things we liked: * You can pay using Wise for excursions which was helpful. * The data was a bit spotty, but mostly worked on the terrace. *The food was delicious! It was the best food we had in Raja Ampat. They ensured we had fresh fruit every day and each meal was more than filling and fresh. They had a common area where you can meet the others staying there which was great in the evening. *They cleaned the room each day which was nice too! *Lots of incredible sunsets!
*There is a bit of a language barrier. The family is super friendly, but it would have been nice to speak more to the owners about excursions. I just googled each place and create a plan. Their prices are on their site though so you basically just create a DIY trip based on that. *Not the fault of the guesthouse, but a lot of trash comes in with the tide unfortunately. However, when going on day trips, the son of the owner was helping clean the ocean by collecting some rubbish in the reef, so I was happy to see that! *There wasn't a lightswitch in our bungalow for the porch and bathroom and only one charging port with no extension in our room (whereas the other two rooms with bathrooms had these). We had to unscrew the lightbulb each night.. *They weren't really helpful with coordinating any diving excursions, so this guesthouse may be better for snorkelers. FYI - my friend used Brothers Diving (which was two places down the beach) and Yenbuba diving homestay for diving nearby. I would recommend arranging these far in advance because it was hard to get a spot.
HUThere are many homestays in Raja Ampat, most of them seem to be same, it's not easy to choose. Let's see the main aspects for byuk beya homestay: Location: very good, close to many top dive spots, and the surrounding is nice Bungalows: fair. Nothing special, just the same, than any other homestay bungalows. Simply bathroom, with salty water, bed, fun and teracce Staff: friendly, but lack of English speaking (except the owner). Because of lack of common language, it's hard to get closer, and they are not proactive for talk to the guests and offer programs, and excursions. Food: good! I've been in two homestays, so, I don't have to much experience, but by the opinion of other guests, this food is above the average. I can say the meal was always delicious and more than enough.
Beds are really uncomfortable with old and used mattresses. Hammocks in seafront bungalows are too small and uncomfortable. Rats at night, but it's a general problem in Kri Lots of trash in the sea, this area is very polluted Would be better to have chance for more contact with the family
ESA very friendly family, clean rooms on stilts, 3 with bathrooms! Abundant and delicious food, the best place I stayed.. reef ok for snorkelling tho there were many jellyfish at times. My favourite homestay, stayed 10 days..
Some of the older matresses need changing, but bedclothes impecably clean
ESIts very simple bungalow but functional with everything. The location is great. I would for sure repeat it if i ever go back to Kri again. While breakfast is simple, its abundant. Lunch and dinner are just great homemade food with a lot of variety and quantity.
Better to contact the owner to let them know when you arrive. We had to spend more than 30 minutes on the sea trying to contact them to pick us up because our boat could not get close to the bungalow in shallow waters. I guess if you arrange pick up with them directly there should not be any problem.
DEBeautiful little huts above the water surrounded by the lush nature of Kri Island. The house reef is very nice with turtles, lots of fish and sharks almost on every snorkel swim. Be aware of the currents and it is good to time the snorkeling according to the tide. The host family is very friendly and can offer snorkeling trips to some amazing sites including Cape Kri, Yenbuba Jetty and other places. Just ask the family and Avid is happy to arrange a trip. Remember that a Homestay is not a hotel and that visitors should be open the unique experience of each Homestay.
MTOnly the location
Dirtiest homestay we have ever been to Not value for your money Due to lack of cleanliness there was a lot of insects and rats going around Food was tasteless and we did not interact with the host We booked that specific homestay since it had a private bathrooms and we were terrified with the amount of dirt it had we didn’t even use it. We had only been there for one night since we couldn’t stick another minute there
