OYO Imperial Hotel

I thought the breakfast was excellent. It was very varied with plenty of choice. The cooked breakfast was cooked to perfection and alway hot and arrived very quickly after ordering. The service was exceptional.

I didn't like being lied to by Booking.com about renovation work. I was only told AFTER booking that renovation work was being carried out and this would mean the restaurant and bar would be closed except for breakfast. Luckily the bar proved to be open but was seriously short of beer. The lift was tempermental and sometimes took a while to work. I think it would have been better to have prepared mixed fruit salad for breakfast rather than whole fruit like apples.

Hotel was lovely upon walking in. Rooms were of a good size especially with requiring a cot in there. Bath was huge and really nice to relax in. Staff were very friendly especially the guy who worked Saturday evening he was very coo

Breakfast was nice but not really enough, bean portion could have been bigger, sausages looked a bit undercooked. In the bar area on Friday night the girl on reception gave us our drinks, no ice (warm gin 🤮) wasn't really welcoming and friendly. The travel cot we requested smelt a bit musty and the bottom mattress part was slightly broken. Had we been using it more than 2 nights I would have raised this but it wasn't really a problem for us, others might not have been so accepting. The double bed in our room was a bit on the small side so was conscious through the night about falling out haha! We had a corner room so was secluded and quiet but the seagulls (which I know isn't the hotels problem) nesting on the roof adjoining were having competitions through the night who could be the loudest but the room was too warm through the night we had no choice but to keep the window open and hear them.

We knew beforehand that the hotel is undergoing a refurbishment. We ignored the grotty landing carpet as our room and section was brand new. The staff were fantastic . Parking is great and undercover. The breakfasts two of were complimentary and excellent. We got two nights for the price of one. How could you complain. Its bang in the centre and the building is grade 2 listed. It is being kept authentic and basically its being restored . A beautiful large Victorian building. This is my hometown of long ago so I have memories of this place as a child . I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to seeing its completion

Good location. Food and accommodation was excellent and staff polite and friendly. Will definitely use this hotel again and refer them to friends and family.

I found the breakfast to be better than I anticipated. I only expected a continental breakfast, so I skipped breakfast on the first morning and had scrambled eggs on toast at the "Furness Railway" Wetherspoon instead. Incidentally, it's just a 5 minutes or so walk from the Hotel. As I had only booked for 2 nights, I decided to try the Hotel breakfast the following morning, because I had an early morning train to catch. As I walked into the dining room, I was surprised to be greeted by one of the staff and asked if I'd like a full English breakfast. It was excellent. Besides the cooked breakfast, there are also a variety of other breakfast items, like cereals, fruit, yogurt etc. I found all the staff to be very polite and friendly. The only minor issue that I had was with my bed. I suffer from a bad back, like most people probably do, that are in their 60's. The mattress was comfortable, but had a little more "give" in it than I would have liked. It wouldn't be a problem for younger backs, but I prefer a firm mattress. There was also a dip in the middle of the mattress that didn't do me any favours. If it had been further down the mattress, my back wouldn't have rested on it. Everything else in the room was perfect. When I ran out of milk, I asked receptionist for more and he was more than happy to give me extra. I highly recommend this Hotel and if I ever visit Barrow again, I will stay here again.

Just a minor issue with the mattress, but then again, not everybody has back issues, so they wouldn't notice it like I did.
