"Enjoyable Traditional Ryokan Experience"

8.0

I loved the traditional aspect of the hotel and it was a highlight to experience the private onsen in our room and worth the additional cost. It was a great experience to try a traditional Japanese Breakfast and Dinner and. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly.

"Overpriced, unclean and off putting"

2.0

The location is nice and in a quieter area off the Main Street.

The staff were so overly in your face from the minute you walked in. Every time we had to go outside and come back they wanted our name, even though we already checked in and gave our names multiple times. They hovered over you as you put on shoes, grabbed something from your bag or just walked to your room. The traditional food was bland and boring. The room and building is run down. Not up kept and unclean. There was a large human hair ball in our shower next to our “scenic private onsen”. The room was old and the fixtures had not been updated or even maintained well. We went here and spent the most on this room than any other while in Japan. We were hoping for a romantic, peaceful stay and got an uncomfortable and off putting stay at a place that felt more like a hostel than a private room.

"If you want traditional at a good price, this is the place!"

9.0

I really liked Yaeikan Ryokan. The location is fantastic - just a few minutes' walk from the train station. The walk is so nice, crossing two bridges over cute streams. As soon as you enter, you are immediately taken care of. You remove your shoes and are given slippers, and they wrap up your umbrellas and whisk your luggage away to your room while you check in. The attendant walks you through everything and then escorts you to your room, giving you a full tour. The room was amazing! We had our own onsen en suite. The futon beds were actually on a wooden platform rather than directly on the floor, which made getting in and out much easier. They were comfortable, and I loved all the windows in our room. Half the windows overlooked a waterfall, so I slept with the window open, listening to the sound of the rain and the waterfall that night. The food was okay. The presentation was amazing, and I appreciated that it was in our room. I am not a very adventurous eater, so not everything provided was something that my clearly Western palate enjoyed, but I appreciated the variety. There was still plenty to eat that I did enjoy, and I did not go hungry! I was very happy to have what felt like a very traditional Japanese ryokan experience. I also loved that we had hot water available for tea and that larger-sized yukata were delivered to our room. We also used the private onsen, which was nice, but 30 minutes is a little tight. The public onsen didn't seem to be used that much, so that is definitely an option. I also loved that the public onsen has a vibrating foot massaging plate! I sat and enjoyed that after my time in the private onsen, which was wonderful! I know this place hasn't received the best reviews in the past, so I was a little concerned, but my fears were relieved as soon as I got there. It is a traditional inn - not a new, luxury hotel - so you have to manage your expectations.

The "minibar" was empty, which was fine, but the minifridge itself looked like it needed a good cleaning or replacement. Some of the stored futons (which we didn't use) looked ready for replacement as well. The bedding was fine - everything was comfortable and clean, but it is starting to look a bit tired. It is an old, traditional inn, and I expected some things to be a little older, so this wasn't a problem for me.

Central location. Easy to get around from

The food was not amazing and I was disappointed by the onsens. I had been to much better ones in other hotels.

Le bain privatif, et les repas sont très bons.

Manque un peu de propreté, et on s'attendait à une chambre un peu plus spacieuse.

We love the traditional ryokan experience. There are private onsen that you can reserve, public onsen and the hotel offers in-room kaiseki dining experience. We had a lovely stay overall.

"Si può trovare in zona di meglio"

7.0

La gentilezza del personale ed alcuni locali ed arredamenti

La stanza era particolarmente sobria e non ho apprezzato la non limpidezza dell’acqua dell’onsen pur essendo quello privato
