Traditional Japanese house, It was a very good experience to get to know it.

The toilet. I understand we want more sustainable options but it is annoying to use.

The house is a traditional Japanese country house situated next to the river, in a very quiet small town. I really enjoyed my stay, I didn't meet the owner in person but he was extremely helpful and even offered to make a reservation for the taxi we need in the morning. I absolutely raccomend staying here to spend some quiet time surrounded by nature.

This is a very unique place to stay - created significantly from recycled materials, it even features a composting toilet (which my kids found hilarious). Large, well-appointed kitchen, adequate shower & bath, great sleeping area (tatami & futon), strong WiFi. It had so many quirks that I’d have welcomed another night to truly get to know the place. So interesting. Easy to reach by bus from Hongu or Koguchi. Good for a larger Kumano Kodo group. Very peaceful area.

I personally liked it all, though my wife wasn’t over-keen on the compost smell.

Its location in the countryside by a river. It is served by buses to get you to and from Koguchi for access to the Kumano Kodo track. It’s spacious with tatami mats and futon mattresses. Really good kitchen. It’s green credentials: solar, batteries & composting toilet (the last one maybe a challenge for some).

Its quirks are endearing. Being out in the countryside side was nice. We had a car so made it easy to get back to town for meals. And head to the hot pool river. There is nature very nearby! We saw lots of deer. A couple monkeys and yes there are spiders.

Outside was disappointing. Ramshackle and the onsen and sauna are broken. Could all do with a tidy.
