The location provides an ocean view for every room which is great. The rooms are well-designed, spacious for Japanese standards, and the beds were comfortable. The second floor work areas were super useful to take meetings. We enjoyed the onsen, although many times the ambience was disrupted by loud guests who may not have had a clear understanding of onsen etiquette. The free drinks and small snacks available in the lobby made each evening after dinner feel special.

We had to check out and check in twice during our trip because a room was not available for the entire duration of our stay -- we have to switch rooms twice. This meant we were saddled with our luggage between 11 am to 3 pm on those room transfer days. We managed, but luggage storage lockers which were not provided at Rakuten Stay, would have made those days a whole lot better. We also asked for new towels during our lenghty stay, which we did not get. Additionally, our international phone plan didn't allow for normal phone calls so we couldn't call a cab directly, which we needed to get to Atami Station -- a taxi phone in the lobby would have helped greatly.
