Great BBQ dinner and breakfast. Quality of food. Location near the beach.

There was no transportation from the facility to the art spots and the port.

We stayed at Sana Mane several years ago and were delighted they had an opening when we came back to explore more of Naoshima! It felt like coming back home. :) The individual large round tents are comfortable and well equipped. The beds are soft and the linens are clean and warm. A split air heat pump system keeps the temp as cool or warm as you need, and the en suite shower and toilet are clean and modern. The staff is great! Polite, professional, and keep out of the way so the calm and quiet of the surroundings can have the best effect. Requests were quickly and efficiently handled! We chose the dinner and breakfast options. The dinners are BBQ, cooked yourself on a big propane grill in a separate private low building near each of the tents. The portions are large, the quality of the meats and veg are fantastic, and it was relaxing and private. We thought it was a good value! Breakfast was a delicious sausage soup, fresh warm croissant, yogurt, a bit of fresh fruit, and coffee/tea, again served in our private dining house. We also thought it was a good value. The property is located to the east of town, so it is best to get a rental e-bike to get back and forth between Sana Mane, the town, and the Benesse art sites. It is a bit of a walk with suitcases, but not difficult. We have done the round trip walk from the port to Sana Mane with our luggage twice now, and still don’t think we need a cab. Make sure you reserve the e-bikes well in advance: they do sell out quickly! Will we be back to Sana Mane? We sure hope so! We would love to come back again to Naoshima and would hope that Sana Mane is available then!

The first time we visited Sana Mane, the sauna was included with the stay, now it is a separate option. Understandable as its popularity increased, but not as nice as having it included. We aren’t huge sauna fans, so not partaking of the sauna wasn’t a big deal for us.

This is a very unique place. We loved the sauna and the beach, the tents are good, the bathroom inside immaculate. Dinner is fun cooking your own bbq. Breakfast was a little small but tasty and different. We loved our time there since it was the wrap up to our Japan trip and it was great. The staff was amazing, very accommodating and communicated well.

The place is not bad, in front of the beach and at a decent distance from the Ferry, in case you need to walk because there are no taxis available. The tents are nice and big, and the bathrooms are super comfortable for camping.

The staff was friendly, but the place felt a bit unorganized. The food was ok, but breakfast was poor (just a croissant and a coffee). I would only choose this place if no more convenient places are available.
