The Headland Lodge

Very friendly receptionist. I answered NO when she asked me "Will you cook?" but I could buy something in Gisbone, which is just a 10-minute or so drive, and make an easy cook to have a happy dinner. Everything was ready to do so there, thank you.

Minor errors were that there was no hot water in the shower and the Wi-Fi was weak and disconnected every five minutes. It's OK if not for business use. I just expected too much at the place where my iPhone didn't catch good data.

We were biking the rail trail 3 minutes down the road, so the place was perfect, and our host was lovely. She had the fire roaring, and the lovely high kitchen for us to cook in was brilliant . Very quiet and peaceful.

The massive common spaces. Beautiful views. Tarquin is sooo friendly and knowledgeable! The old piano is fun to play. There are board games and great walks nearby.

The road noise. And the piano needs some TLC

This was quite lovely. Tarquin is your host and she is a delight. After a big day out, this is the place to relax, with a glass of something, lounging in front of the big heater in the common room. Pool, darts if you choose. Bed is comfy and the shower is hot. Nice.
