Villa Ocean Breeze

If you're after a quiet escape this is the place. The view from the apartment is stunning and the apartment itself is beautiful, stylish and super clean. It's a great place to explore the NW coast. Super rural and a true escape. And thoroughly amazing sunrises!

We did not like the roller shutters because in such heat we felt boxed in, yet if you want darkness and to keep the mozzies out, you have to close them fully. The very fancy passive air con system did not work. We asked for further instructions yet were unable to get the temp down below 25.9, way too hot to sleep in. The lighting was also temperamental, with a flashing light throughout the night we had to cover up. For these reasons I can't say it was 'comfortable'. Also the kitchen needed stocking with a lot more utensils and certainly more than a bread knife to make it functional as a self catering apartment. Apparently we were 'lucky' someone lived in another flat who was able to provide us with an iron. Gorgeous apartment, but perhaps it's modern features have let the functional aspects down.

Even in December the place is simply magic!

The view and the mountain-side setting were amazing. Super friendly and kind manager and the owner was quickly available and polite.

No screens on the windows and doors meant we needed to keep everything closed at night for mosquitoes - a pity because the night breezes were beautiful and could have made it cool. The ventilation system for cooling was too loud and could not sleep with it, so we were hot and stuffy. There was mold on the ceiling following the pattern of the underfloor heating system, which was known by the owner and he will fix it. Many automatic features, like motion sensor lights outside and a TV screen which we could not turn off as it was set to a default “art” mode (needed to watch a you tube video to figure it out) made for too much light at night; including outside when the night sky is so beautiful there. It is a good quality building and beautiful setting and the owners are still working out the kinks - but overall, less tech and more simple solutions could be more effective.
