Kelham Apartments Sheffield

We booked this apartment to use as a base for our daughters wedding at (very) nearby Kelham Island Museum. I have to say everything about it was better than we hoped. Two great rooms both with Ensuites! A fully functional kitchen and a sofa bed. With four occupants and all the wedding paraphernalia it never felt crowded. Its location for our purposes was superb not just the museum but all the local attractions that Kelham Island has to offer (special shout out to Groke Coffee) The district is very lively but the apartment was really quiet.

For our purposes I have no complaints. We hoped from looking at the map that it would be a good location and in the end the apartment exceeded our expectations. 10/10

Locaion wasn't bad with street parking outside

Cleaning fees were added after booking and payment, which was disappointing and not something I expected. The key safe contained a large number of keys, making it difficult to identify the correct one. Despite declaring that we were travelling with a dog when booking, we later received a message stating that our dog had been spotted on CCTV and to expect yet more charges The property itself was tired and not particularly clean. Much of the furniture and décor appeared second-hand and the overall standard fell below expectations. There were exposed wires beneath a wall-mounted heater which was itself loose from the wall. The kitchen appeared unclean enough that we chose not to use it during our stay. Communication was excessive, with numerous lengthy messages, some containing inactive links. We had originally intended to put the experience down to bad luck and move on, but after receiving several follow-up messages and phone calls requesting a review, I felt it was only fair to provide honest feedback. Unfortunately, we would not stay here again.

Clean and spacious, host was very responsive as it was a last minute booking. Instructions very clear and host made sure we were satisfied with our stay.

Towels forgotten, however, this was a last minute booking and the host was very apologetic about the issue. I would still recommend.

Second time of staying at this property, spacious and reasonably well presented

Looking tired, need a revamp, very hot inside due to lack of ventilation. Main issue was no openable window in main bedroom and this room was very hot due to heat wave. Construction of new building to the rear of the accommodation meant windows could not be left open during the day due to extreme noise. Works started each day at 8am and finished at 6pm and 8 to 1 on Saturday. On Saturday and Sunday, there was a building to the front of the property being demolished with asbestos removal taking place, so no windows open to the front of the house and a start time of 7am. Came home early. Our hosts should have advised these works were taking place as this may have caused us to not stay in this occasion.

Staffs are very helpful with speedy response time. The property has provided essential cookery.

Sofa bed was not cleaned. Also the property is on the ground floor so noise might be an issue.

The apartment was super small, more furniture than floor space. The sofa bed is absolutely unusable. Dirty mugs and plates had been put back in the cupboard and the floor was sticky. Had to clean to make it liveable. The windows literally open on to a huge construction site. Intense power tools and super loud construction starts at 7am. Can’t have the windows open due to the noise and insane dust coming off of the site. The washing machine in adjoining apartment was not level and used consistently at 4am. Made the walls & bed side table shake. Then below us was a horrible situation that would consistently kick off at 4:30am ( probably have been woken by the washing machine ) and didn’t stop until 8am. Police were called at 5am on the third night. After 4 nights of absolute my no sleep I was too exhausted to work and lost pay. To which they responded by giving me a £16 refund in credit on here for the entire nightmare of our 5 day stay. They then took as long as possible to give me the EXTRA £100 deposit on top of all the deposits paid on here. Claiming this is normal, yet I’ve been using this site for years and have never had one demanded before. They lied and said they had sent it when I checked in to see where it was. It took them 4 more business days to send it and use a process that means it’ll then take 10 days after before your bank can put it back in to your account. Worst experience I’ve had and I’ve been coming to Sheffield using this site to book accommodation for over 5 years now.

Everything was good.

Firstly the location was 5 minutes walk away from the wedding reception I attended. Secondly the apartment was on the ground floor, (bonus as l was in heels). Thirdly the apartment was designed perfectly. Everything we needed, clean and comfortable. And not forgetting the earlier check in l required and the speedy response from the host as I didn't have my reading glasses on and couldn't read the instructions clearly to access the property. He was so patient and extremely helpful and respectful. Thank you so much
