The property was comfortable.

The staff were not very friendly and the room was very dirty and dusty

Lovely spot. The staff were so welcoming and the character of the pub is so beautiful. Added bonus how dog friendly they are.

We loved the uniqueness of our room (#4). Such tall ceilings and exposed beams. Lovely dinner and just all round relaxing time with a walk around the surrounding fields in the morning.

Great all round

Traditional old pub which has kept its character. Lots of different areas to sit & eat in (some with real fires). Great staff too.

Coffee cups were not clean in room on arrival (and not replaced during stay)

Very comfortable room and excellent large en-suite bathroom (room 2), although like many hotel bathrooms there was little horizontal surfaces for washbags,etc. Room temperature slightly too warm and lighting in the room a little too subdued - difficult for reading. The room would have benefited from a power point near the dressing table. Very pleasant dining room - a recent extension. Good dinner menu and excellent service.

Very limited food available for breakfast- effectively only croissants, pastries and rolls. The tea and coffee were satisfactory. Elderly travelers and those with limited mobility would struggle with staircase access to first floor (especially the bottom step).

Everything about the Chestnut Horse is excellent. It's charming, quirky, cosy, good food, lovely room, splendid bed. Wonderful stay, loved the place.

Parking can be difficult as the place is obviously so popular. Very steep stairs to the rooms with no safety rail at the top. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. In our late 70s we managed ok but customers should be made aware on the booking site.

I think the lady said it was built in the 16th century and the place has bags of character. We only stayed one night as we were moving on but if we were in the area again we would definitely stay again. We also ate in the restaurant and it was excellent. Could not fault food or service. The beer was pretty good too!
