Gardener's Cottage at Mathern Palace

Lovely cottage in a peaceful picturesque village within easy reach to Chepstow (by car). Perfect for a short stay to explore the Wye valley. The cottage had everything we required and the host responded to any queries promptly.

The location was excellent, peaceful and very well presented.

The cottage is located in a beautiful area, lovely and quiet. The decor is lovely. The shared garden was perfect for my dog. Very close to chepstow town center and the Severn Bridge. I would defiantly recommend Gardeners Cottage to friends and would be more than happy to stay again.

The location was quiet and tranquil in a small hamlet steeped in some beautiful Welsh history. The cottage had everything you needed in the kitchen and was superbly clean and presentable.

The mattresses were not very comfortable. The lighting was poor - the living room could have done with some lamps so in the evening we weren’t sitting under stark, bright spotlights - it needed more ambience. There were hardcore stones all around the property so the smallest of steps could be heard. The shower entrance is tight as it’s positioned right in front of the bathroom sink and was incredibly difficult to get into to. There was also no hand soap or bath mat in the bathroom and the slip factor was HIGH. Be careful. Finally, attempting to do hair and make up at a dressing table with no accessible plug was difficult - an extension cable would be of great benefit.

This is a beautifully presented cottage in such a peaceful setting.

This cottage has a shared garden. Mostly, that was fine, but occasionally, it would have been nice to have your own outdoor space.

ein sehr ansprechendes typisches Cottage aus Natursteinen in einer sehr ruhigen ländlichen Umgebung im Dorf Mathern auf einem Gutsgelände gelegen. Chepstow mit allen Einkaufmöglichkeiten und netten Lokalen sowie einer beeindruckenden Burg in nur fünf Autominuten entfernt. Gehobene Einrichtung, bequeme Betten. Bei leider noch meist kühlem Wetter freuten wir uns über eine gut funktionierende Heizung.Charlotte erkundigtre sich mehrmals, ob alles in Ordnung sei. Einige Attraktionen im südöstlichen Wales sind per Auto bequem in kurzer Zeit erreichbar.

Die Küchenausstattung könnte etwas reichhaltiger sein, insbesondere wenn 4 Personen zu Gast sind. Der Kühlschrank hat leider kein Gefrierfach. Der Sitzplatz vor dem Haus wirkt etwas ungemütlich, während der rückwärtige Garten leider über keine Gartenmöbel verfügt, was insbesondere im Sommer schade ist. in einem der beiden schönen Schlafzimmern gibt es weder eine Kommode noch einen Schrank für Kleidung.

An amazing cottage hosted by the lovely Charlotte. She was so attentive, kind, and helpful, and made us feel right at home in Mathern. The cottage itself is gorgeous and impeccably clean, equipped with everything you'd need for your stay. Easy access to Chepstow and the Wye Valley area for daily excursions. Would definitely go back and would highly recommend staying there!

I honestly found no faults and had an amazing stay.
