The neighborhood was so sketchy I did not even check in. People smoking crack right outside, in the open. A woman with open sores and glazed eyes waving. I pulled my truck down a side street to see if there was secure parking and 2 men began walking toward my vehicle, waving. REALLY BAD, SEEDY AREA. I did not feel safe, and I'm a grown man who has lived in Chicago, NYC, and LA under less than ideal conditions.

See above. A truly awful, scary, dangerous neighborhood.

Everything about the property online is a complete façade. These people renting the Chicago Avenue Inn are absolute scammers.

This property is in a terrible area of Chicago. There were clothes hanging on the gate of the property that assumingely belonged to the multiple crackheads lurking in front of the property. This property looks NOTHING like the pictures on the ad. The grass was over grown as if no one had cut it in a year. Also the gate to enter the property was broken. Not to mention there is NO free parking near or in front of the property. The renters will send you 3 streets with free parking, the closest one is a 15 minute drive from the bnb, so over a 30 minute walk. So in theory you would be walking with all of your belongings to this bnb for over 30 minute in the awful area of Chicago being the perfect target to potentially be mugged, robbed, or God forbid worse. Also when you decide to cancel your reservation due to being concerned about your safety because trust me you will be concerned, these hosts will make it almost impossible to cancel. I had to REPEATEDLY tell the host for over an hour that i wanted to cancel my reservation because they are liars and scammers, they will try to pull out all the stops to try to make you not cancel EXCEPT for offering a refund. These people will not issue a refund because how else would they make a living. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not book with these people. You would be making a ginormous mistake and will be out over 600 dollars if you do.

Interiör var fräsch och badrummet välrenoverat. Köket är helt ok, dock utan muggar och tallrikar. Konstigt.

Jag hamnade dock i ett mycket litet rum i källaren, mer som en cell än ett hotellrum, och fick tillbringa den första natten utan AC. På mitt önskemål installerade personalen en liten AC dagen därpå, vilket jag uppskattade. Det värsta var dock ljudet från tvättmaskinen som någon envisades att sätta igång mitt i natten. Den väckte mig under två nätter i rad. Efter den första natten klagade jag och fick ett vänligt svar om att problemet skulle åtgärdas. Trots det startades maskinen återigen mitt i natten nästa dag. Suck. Summa summarum: se till att ni inte hamnar i källaren. Annars riskerar ni att få en tuff vistelse och gå omkring trötta hela dagen. Det som också överraskade mig mycket negativt var omgivningarna. Precis utanför entrén hängde suspekta typer, och området runt omkring kändes slummigt. Jag kände mig mycket otrygg, särskilt när jag sent på kvällen, efter ett försenat flyg, skulle leta upp boendet. Jag gick från tunnelbanestationen Kenzie och nästan sprang hela vägen för att undvika eventuella problem.

People were partying at midnight. Police came at 1am. People were screaming, fighting, knocking my door. I couldn’t sleep all night. I travelled all around the world and I have never felt unsafe like this before. It was so scary! I didn’t want to stay there my second night and asked for a refund but they didn’t even respond my messages. DO NOT STAY HERE!
