Ad Deir Guesthouse

Saddam, the owner, is the best! He treated us excellently, we had long and beautiful conversations, very friendly and honest. He is also a guide for Petra and recommended us the best trails. Also nice sisha! The room was big, clean and really comfortable. I would definitely come back and recommend it!

This place is the best. I highly recommend staying here for your visit to Petra. They only have a few rooms, so they treat each of their guests like family. I highly recommend the dinner and the lunch boxes. It's about the same price or cheaper than what you find on the streets, but it is so much more convenient and peaceful. It is a short 10-minute walk from the Petra visitor center. Remember to bring JOD. They don't accept credit card, but there is an ATM by the visitor center. We have two kids under 12 and they both ate free! We wanted to start Petra at 6 AM, so they prepared our lunch boxes for us the night before so they'd be waiting for us on our way. This really helped us beat the heat and the crowds. Our family was able to hike all the way to the Treasury and the monastery before it got hot. Pro tip: If you want the dinner (which you do) you should let them know at least a couple of hours before you want it.

I prefer to pay with credit card, but they were very accommodating, so it was ok. Take cash and then there are no worries.

The host is nice snd welcoming!! The room is comfortable. Also, location is quite good, short walk to the entrance of Petra within 10mins.

Stairs going up the guesthouse were a little bit tiring

It is the best value you can get in Wasi Musa for sure! Thr Host Sadam is verry kind and helpful. We got a free upgrade because there was availability. The dinner was very tasy and consisted of different dishes. I would definitely recommend :)

Everything was on great level. When i told the Sadam that i am fasting he brought me iftar for free. Appreciate it. Location is perfect. Just up to 10min of Petra entrance

Location is 5 minutes to Petra Visitor Center, but to get there you have to climb up across broken bricks. Tricky way especially in darkness.

Unfresh towels, insects in the room, everything is broken. Pictures on the site is 2 or 3 years old. There wasn’t even a soap in the bathroom. But worst of all is the landlord. Terribly rude guy. When I just arrived, he asked me to cancel my booking motivating he doesn’t want to pay commission to booking.com. I refused. All my requests accordingly conditions in the room were ignored. He promised, but never kept his word, and lied to me all the time.

Great location, very quiet and clean rooms, ten minutes walk to the Petra entrance. We received many good tips from the host for our stay in Petra. Free Wi-Fi.

The host was super nice and friendly.

- Quiet surrounding area if you like to stay calm - Good restaurants and mini mart is not far from Ad Deir - 10-15 mins walk from Petra visitor center - Wifi, good connection - Saddam, the host is nice and flexible to upgrade the room without extra fees for me upon the room's availability (My visit was during the week so some rooms are empty and available to choose) also he booked the local minivan for me to go Wadi Rum in the early morning - The rooms are simple with the basic needs, it offers decent value for the price - Private bathroom attached, having the hair dryer, hot shower, AC to warm up your room worked well and it was very convenient during my visit in the winter - Staying at Ad Deir feels like staying in a local house as it is not a big building, reaching to Ad Deir by local stairs from the main road

The 2 points below are not about what I didn't like, I would say the constraint for some of you might have if you are: - traveling with the heavy backpack or luggages (you need to take the stairs to reach the Ad Deir, but stairs are quiet big enough to take and have wider space too) - not comfortable staying in a basic room (basic room but stuffed with minimum requirements for the private bed and shower are provided such as hot shower, clean towels and AC, hair dryer, electric cattle)
