Léon is a very helpful person, always available for any purpose . In addition the breakfast is outstanding.

Lyon was a very good host. Room was spacious clean and comfortable, with hot water for showers. Breakfasts was eggs, toast, fruit pletter, tea or coffee. Lyon also provided good information on the local area for dining and swimming.

Nothing honestly

The host (leon) is a very helpfull and friendly guy, who made us feel at home right away. He arranged a nice breakfast and transport to the airport. Nice common area with other guests, and the room was impeccable. Nicest shower we've had in Asia. Can only recommend this stay.

The most welcoming, helpful and warm host! We arrived at 4am in the morning and Leon our host allowed us to do an early check in. He did everything to make sure that our stay is comfortable and gave us valuable tips for our trip in Sri Lanka. Breakfast was good too! We asked for pancakes on the second day and they were reallyyy delicious. We were very grateful! The room was basic, since Leon just opened it. But he said that he is planning to add more amnesties like an AC or a mosquito net for the windows. But the price value ratio was worth it!

Room was basic, but it had everything we need. It was nice and clean. Shower is nice. Breakfast was great and owner was very helpful. He eaven gave as ride to train station.

Great house and amazing host. The house is beautiful and nicely located by the canal. Leyon was the most helpful and welcoming host. He opened the gate for us at 6am after picking us up from nearby with his tuk tuk. The terrace is the perfect spot for the freshest breakfast in Sri Lanka and relaxing in the evening with a couple of beers after the delicious dinner prepared by the host.

My partner and I had the best stay at Star Canal Cottage. After receiving a great tuk tuk tour around Negombo from Leon at the start of our trip, we stayed at his guesthouse before our departure too due to his friendliness and consideration. Our room very clean, spacious and light, with a powerful hot shower in the bathroom. The location is great, close to the city centre with restaurants nearby, but down a quiet canal road to enjoy the peace. We read and listened to the birds on the terrace during the day, while drinking home made lime juice before an excellent dinner of home-made prawns from Leon. A wonderfully kind, funny, and diligent host (and now friend), we will recommend Star Canal Cottage to anyone wishing to visit Sri Lanka :)
