Kirbister Mill Farm Cottage

Love this place - it's the home I would choose for myself. Beautifully and tastefully decorated throughout, the bedrooms were large and spacious, as was every room. Instructions for arrival were perfect, keys easy to access. Parking right outside. The host has thought of everything and we felt at home there and if we are ever in Orkney again, we'd book here.

Lovely cottage, in an excellent location. Very easy to get all over the mainland. Great walk down to the beach, which is lovely on a low tide. Comfortable lounge with lots of seating, bedrooms very nice. The shower room is good, with lots of hot water. And a well equipped kitchen. The log burner was most welcome, as it was a tad damp outside most days!!

The only real downside is 1 bathroom / loo, but I knew that when I booked. Shame the dishwasher was not working, but we washed up!!

Everything - the house is well equipped, spacious, and in a fantastic location, quiet but within easy reach of both Kirkwall and Stromness. Also very well placed for visiting loads of historical sites and nature reserves (you can walk to Waukmill Bay, photo 2, directly from the house with the owner's permission - walking boots or wellies recommended as it's a bit marshy). Lucky enough to get a rainbow as we left.☺️

The location was ideal for our group facilities were great and the parking off-road was a bonus. Close to one of the lochs to fish was an added bonus for our group.

Shower facilities were spot on, but 6 adults and one shower was a bit of a logistics problem, but we all managed (luckily)

Comfortable and plenty of room for our party of 3 couples. Clean and Decor was nice. Jigsaw and cards for pastime.

The cooker - I couldn’t get to grips with finding the right heat setting. I’m used to gas which is far more responsive.

The location was good, with walks nearby and easy access to the rest of the island by car, as well as by bus. The property was well-equipped, attractive and spacious property.

There was no file giving instructions/information about the property and nearby amenities, etc.

We had a great stay! The central location, near the Neolithic heart of Orkney and Kirkwall, is superb! Allowing you to travel in all directions/islands easily. Has all the facilities you need, and all seems really new, decent and clean. Some great views from the house too, e.g. the bay and the hills (note that the right side of the cottage is surrounded by the farm). Greatest trait: the sheeps that graze around the cottage, even at the kitchen window!

None. If I have to mention something, the bathroom gets really humid/damp soon, it could use some extra ventilation. For the rest, all good!
