Y Garth Guesthouse

Y Garth was an excellent find with comfortable rooms, really friendly hosts, a nice atmosphere and close to the town centre and transport links. I can recommend it to anyone planning to stay in Bangor, particularly if you are keen to support a local business run onsite rather than managed by an absent owner. Y Garth is a simple, comfortable place to stay in Bangor. Joanne received me and was very polite and respectful. She showed me my room which was clean and smelled good, with a sink, tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom (shared) was also very clean, everything working properly and a pretty good shower. Although I only spent one night at Y Garth, I recommend it; it’s a good value for money.

Upon welcome I was told the WiFi basically doesn't work, where it only works with my room door open, which is something I'm not comfortable doing at all. The room really shouldn't be listed as having WiFi in this case, disappointing. Also the room only had a door to open rather than a window, so fresh air meant opening a door.

Location was great. Just a 5 min walk to the local pub and restaurants Adam recommended. And the pier is just 1 more minute. Lovely. Breakfast was very good. We don't eat a lot for breakfast so had toast and eggs which were cooked just right.

Not "didn't like" but perhaps thicker bath towels.

Great value and basic but functional

Clean, comfortable and great value for money. Staff was friendly and helpful when I needed a later check in due to train delays.

Only downside was I missed breakfast due to having to leave early for travel connections.

Everything was perfect. Adam and Joanne couldn't have done anymore, the welcome was lovely and I was shown everything I needed in the room. Breakfast was amazing and had a lovely chat with both of them. The room was immaculate, the cleanest hotel room I've ever been in. So many convenient things that I love to see, a plug by the bed and a lamp with a switch by the bed. I already can't wait to go back.

Absolutely nothing

Adam and Joanne were lovely. The room was perfect for what I needed, plus the unexpected bonus of a balcony that caught the evening sun, with a table and chairs. Having a basin in the room was helpful, but the bathroom was only just outside my room.

Nothing I can think of

Warm welcome and concise instructions. We were upgraded to a twin en-suite room rather than a double with shared facilities which was a bonus. Room was quiet and comfortable.
