Great location. Diana was wonderful. Very helpful with questions and found some extra kitchen supplies for us when I asked. Also offered some fresh papaya from the property for breakfast.

No breakfast, but a kitchenette with coffee and permission to pick any ripe papayas (they were fabulous), and tables by the infinity pool so bring your own muffins, etc. Manago hotel restaurant is nearby, as are others. It's on the hill above Kealakekua bay and below Captain Cook. We wanted to explore that area so it was a perfect location for us. Wendy the manager is most helpful and charming - any concerns are dealt with immediately.

One or two small cleaning or operational issues, and there should be a shelf in the shower for the shampoo and body wash - tough to use them when they're on the sink counter. Hot tub was sandy with heavy chlorine. But these were minor in the whole picture.

Our hostess Wendy was exceptionally welcoming and informative. Wow! What a hostess. Unobtrusive, but there if your family needed Anything! The place is exceptional (we keep using that word) and with views of the sunset that you can’t match at Waikiki. But her presence was very well-matched to the glorious surroundings. Thank you, Wendy, you made our trip special.

Everything was great

The Luana Inn was everything I hoped it would be based on my research that led me to book a stay there...and more. The location was beautiful, set on a hillside overlooking the ocean away from the tourist trappings of Kalua-Kona. The property has beautiful and well-maintained gardens. My room was perfect for my needs with a comfortable bed, adequate storage space, a beautiful deck and pool that offered a nice opportunity to socialize with other guests and the delightful new innkeeper, Wendy.

The room I was in would benefit from a ceiling fan with a light fixture. Getting the room lit required going to many lamps and switches and the light was still not adequate for spending time in the evening. Also, I could not find the switch for the lights over the vanity in the bathroom. Also, the curtains were difficult to open and close, though having light blocking curtains was nice.
