Hostal Santa Marta

The lady owning the hostel is incredibly friendly and helpful. We arrived to late for the shuttle to take us up the volcano and she arranged a pickup to take us for half the price than a taxi would have been.

The room we booked was very humid and the walls were a bit mouldy. The AC helped!

Location

Owner allowed others to interfere when communicating with her even I told the person butt out she insisted he speak for me. Smoking is permitted where second hand smoke can enter rooms. My room stinks and opening doors/windows makes it worse

The kitchen was well equipped and the upstairs was a very comfortable and relaxing place to chill. Location was good to take the boat in the morning

The shower had no shower head just a spout.

There’s no breakfast on the premises but there’s some restaurants on the town

Check out time is 8 AM - very early (for every hour more is 5$), I didnt need to stay longer, but for some it can be useful information and disadvantadge People smoking in the common area

Cheap

Paid on booking for air conditioning but wasn't given the remote for the air con and told I had to pay extra for air con , my booking specifically said "air con" I closed

The location was great - close to everything and was walkable from many places

The prices quoted we were told were incorrect. Instead of 32$ for two beds and air con, we were told we had to pay 60$ as the booking prices (“no fueron correctos”). We were told this was a good price - other people informed us it wasn’t. Additionally, our room was pretty uncomfortable esp after traveling so much. The beds were sunken in and you could feel the springs. Another issue was that we were told check out was at 8am (there were signs posted) but since we weren’t Salvadoran that we could stay until noon. This was strange to both of us.
