Villa Emerald Ella

Welcoming hospitality, comfy room with a huge balcony, delicious full local breakfast - loved it. Sometimes you can hear discos from the downtown (it is some distance below the property), so if you're a light sleeper - earplugs would be a good choice.

Could have provided kettle and tea bags in the room. Payment is cash, which came to our surprise. Card payment should make possible, especially when expecting foreign customers. If cash payment is the only option, customer should be informed beforehand.

Villa Emerald has two rooms. Ours was spotlessly clean and there was a large balcony. The hotel was also on a very steep hill l, which meant that we had great views. The room was basic, however, it was very good value for Ella. Thank you Supun for making sure we have wonderful memories of our stay. It was my partner’s birthday, and Supun surprised us with a cake at breakfast, which we enjoyed with the other guest. So kind and very appreciated.

This hotel boasts an absolutely fantastic location (although high up a hill), making it easy to explore the area and not far from the Ella Rock hiking trail starting point. The entire property was impeccably clean, and the host was incredibly welcoming and friendly. To top it off, the breakfast provided was truly excellent and a great start to the day.

Very good location, the town within walking distance. The host was very friendly and served as our driver to Sigiriya and back to Weligama. He made great stops along the way, allowing us to see all the important sightseeing spots (Damro Tea Factory, the lake, waterfalls). We took a 1-hour ride on the Ella/Kandy train to Haputhale, and he came to pick us up with our luggage. It wasn't a problem for us, but the accommodation is located on a hill, so you need to walk a bit up a steep incline. However, tuk-tuks and most cars can drive there.

Workers there were lovely, and went above and beyond to assist with various enquiries I had. Very communicative and present. The room had the necessities.

- lots of spiders in the bathroom. I guess it's to be expected considering the shrubbery around that area. - carpet didn't feel the most clean. Needs to be replaced with hard flooring in my opinion. - hot water was inconsistent. Had to shower in cool water a couple of times, which isn't the worst thing in the world because Sri Lanka is so warm, but I digress. - you have to walk up a VERY steep hill (I'd estimate a 35-45 degrees incline) to get to the property. I had to pay for a tuk tuk to be arranged to take me down into town when I checked out due to my luggage. I feel like the tuk tuk transfer should be included, considering this place is already quite poor money for value in my opinion. Unfortunately, my least favourite place I stayed in Sri Lanka by far.

Great stay on our tour. Beautiful view And clean room. The owner is very helpful he arrange Ella waterfalls good tour.thank you. Breakfast is very tasty and big one.. highly recommend

The accomodation was really nice, room was clean and spacious and the breakfast was delicious.

Only thing we did not like was the reviews, which was clearly not written by real guests (same stylistic, same type of words used, same ..). Recommend to read also reviews on Emerald Mirror Guest Ella which is the same place with much more reviews. But as I mentioned before, we really like the accomodation, you only have to be prepared for a short uphill walk.
