I was lucky to find this accommodation just a day earlier on my last-minute stop in Messina. It has clearly been lovingly restored by the knowledgeable and passionate owner, Mr. Modica di San Giovanni. He informed me that he inherited the property from his family and had just recently converted it to a guest residence! Understanding that I was quite the history buff, he was kind enough to regale me with tales of Messina before the 1908 earthquake. It was truly fascinating to hear! Then he made me a list a few of his top granita recommendations in town, which did not disappoint! The rooms were beautifully appointed, with well-stocked mini bars, beautiful Sicilian tile floors and historical details that I very much appreciated! Bathrooms were spotless and up to modern standards, as was the Wi-Fi. Thank you Mr. Modica for being such an irreproachable host! I will be back.
