Gaia Soul

We had the most wonderful stay at Gaia Soul. Sanduni and everyone else took care of us so well. We especially loved the breakfasts and the cooking class we did during our stay! There is a stunning beach just a few steps away from the property, and it is super easy to get to/from hiriketiya!

Gaia Soul is a beautiful property, with a lot of attention to detail. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable, and the location is truly special – quiet, isolated, with a stunning beach right in front.

On the downside, for the price we paid the service was practically non-existent. Breakfast was tasty but the portions were quite small compared to other places we stayed during our trip. The concept of self-service rooms, with coffee facilities, a washing machine, and a shared kitchen, is nice – but overall we felt that the price was really too high for what was offered.

The property was beautiful, so relaxing, wonderful communal area, aesthetically pleasing and so well looked after by the ladies that work there!

Absolutamente todo. Nos recibieron con un zumo lo cual se agradece por el calor. La habitación y absolutamente todas las estancias estaban super limpias. La habitación con balcón y vistas al mar. Me encantó poder poner la tumbona en el balcón y disfrutar bajo la luna. El desayuno muy rico con zumo natural y disponer de una cocina para poder preparar algo o meter cosas en la nevera me parece una genial idea.

La única cosa que podría como negativo es que no pudimos hacer uso de la piscina porque el agua estaba verde y con alga. Pero teníamos la playa muy cerca.

De accommodatie is erg mooi en goed onderhouden.

De ligging viel ons tegen, dat had te maken dat er in de directe omgeving niets te doen was. En dan bedoel ik in de zin van restaurants/barretjes of surfschooltjes. Het strand was wel prachtig.

I loved this place! Very much felt at home, and all right on one of the best unspoilt beaches in Sri Lanka! Only a handful of people on the whole beach! Be sure to visit sunshine cafe and beach haven restaurant both serving great fresh home cooked food. I enjoyed a curry on the beach at 8pm at night turtle spotting.

Very nicely designed and quiet place far from tourist crowds and night life. We stayed in a brand new villa. A deserted beach is less than 5 minutes away, waves are normally big, not so easy to swim but still refreshing. The Sunshine Café, driven by the nice family that also mainly handles the hotel, offers nice breakfasts and dinners. And don’t miss the small restaurant Beach Heaven, 5 min to the right when you come down to the beach. They serve excellent fresh fish (and if you’re lucky even lobsters), if you ask. There is also a kitchen in the hotel, if you want to cook yourself. Cooking lessons and yoga classes can be arranged, although we did not take that opportunity.

This is maybe not for pool enthusiasts, as the pool is quite small - which did not bother us at all, though. Some wild dogs are roaming on the beach. At first, we were a bit worried, but realised that they are mostly bark, and if you ignore them, they go away.

We loved how private the property was and the downstairs area where we could chill out, read, talk and drink tea. The open access kitchen was beautiful and I felt like we were at home. The family who built Gaia soul were so sweet, Baxter and his wife and beautiful daughter - such a gentle, warm and loving family. The family who run Gaia soul had recently experienced the loss of their dear uncle. Despite their grief, they still showed up for us and provided us with all our needs. Exceptional service under such sorrowful times. The beach down the road is magical. One of the most magical beaches in all of Sri Lanka! I’ve lived here for 6 years and have never seen a beach like it - totally deserted! What a peaceful gift! We will return to Gaia soul! It is a gem of a find and I highly recommend it to travellers who wish to escape the tourist trap and have some peace. ☮️

The place is very nice and stylish and we felt nice even during rainy days. The staff was outstanding, explained everything we asked about and introduced us to Sri Lankan life; the team breatchs soul into this amazing space.

Nothing comes to my mind. Maybe sometimes it felt a bit crowded when all the guests had breakfast at the same time.

We liked everything about this place. The design is made with good UX. Kitchen and shared space were awesome, also the nearby cafe is very comfy and everything was delicious.
