Umoya Safari Lodge

De service van de lodge was uitstekend, we hadden een aantal aanvullende verzoeken omdat vrienden van ons in een lodge vlakbij zaten en werkelijk alles werd voor ons geregeld.

Niks, alles was fantastisch

Tout a été parfait durant notre séjour. Jenni et Lize nous ont accompagné depuis notre réservation jusqu'à notre départ et ont rendu notre séjour inoubliable. Un grand merci également à Rassie, notre guide pour les safaris, pour sa disponibilité, sa gentillesse et tout ce qu'il nous as appris. Quant aux hébergements, ils étaient tels que les photos les présentaient, c'est-à-dire extrêmement spacieux et superbes ! Nous sommes venus en famille et nos enfants ont également été conquis.

Absolument rien.

On our arrival, apart from the lovely welcome, the staff arranged a wonderful cheese platter for us that we enjoyed while overlooking the watering hole. In general the staff were so friendly, always with a smile and really bent over backwards to make us happy. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the patio perfect for our alfresco massages. A beautiful lodge that just needs to sort out the details.

With regards to the food, I was surprised there was no afternoon tea / snacks before the game drive or more so for those that didn't go on the afternoon game drives... it's a long time between breakfast and dinner. Unfortunately our guide was a bit of a disappointment - she didn't bother asking us what we were interested in seeing and having been on many bush drives over the years we appreciate that there is more to the bush than just the big animals. Our guide seemed to ignore the wonderful birds, flora and smaller animals that can be just as fascinating. I actually skipped some game drives because of it. The shower had poor pressure and on a final note it would be nicer if the communal area (dining and bar) was warmer in the evenings so that you can relax and want to spend time there.

Umoya Lodge is a true gem! It perfectly blends rustic charm with elegant, modern touches. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed. The bar area boasted an exceptional selection, and every meal we enjoyed was prepared impeccably – a testament to the chef's skill. Our room, a short and private stroll from the main lodge, was simply massive, featuring a truly humongous and comfortable bed. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the fresh, inviting scent made it feel instantly like home. The highlight, however, was the fully retractable glass wall/door, which seamlessly brought the stunning outside in, creating a truly immersive experience. A special mention must go to Rassie, our game driver. His knowledge of the area and its wildlife was outstanding, and his entertaining personality made every game drive an absolute delight. We eagerly anticipated each opportunity to explore the picturesque Black Rhino Reserve and Pilanesberg Reserve. Witnessing the breath-taking sunrises and sunsets each day was an absolute dream. In fact, one of the evening drives turned into the most unforgettable moment of my life – Rassie took us to a stunning lookout hill where I proposed to my now fiancé! A heartfelt thank you goes to Elnè and Chris for helping make that special moment happen. The entire trip to Umoya Lodge was truly unforgettable. The only regret we have is not booking a longer stay. We are already planning our return and will definitely be staying longer next time to soak in more of this incredible experience. If you're looking for a blend of luxury, adventure, and breath-taking scenery, Umoya Lodge is an absolute must!

Everything about the experience at Umoya was exceptional. The pre-arrival communication was fantastic. The staff during our stay were incredibly helpful, friendly and seemed proud of their job. The food was top notch (thanks David and Happy!). The setting is amazing and the photos don’t do the rooms or communal spaces justice. We did two game drives over our stay and Rassie was equal parts friendly and knowledgable.

This property was incredible! Everything was perfect. The staff looked after our every need and I would highly recommend this property to everyone.

Absolutely nothing

Beautifully designed. Staff are attentive. Food is spectacular. The chefs are incredible. Definitely one of my highlights. I’ve been to various game reserves (Madikwe, hoedspruit, Kruger, Dinokeng). I must say the food here for the size of the property they really took time with the food. Thanks David and Happy. The game drives are an exploration of two reserves: the PM game drive is the smaller Black Rhino reserve (2hrs) only 1-2 Big 5, the AM is the Pilanesberg National Reserve (4hrs) which holds all of the big 5. It was raining a lot so we did r get to see a lot of animals unfortunately, but the elephants did come right up to the waterhole that was by the lodge, it was an amazing siting. The rooms are even better in person, our curtains were motorised and there was a kill switch right next to the bed to turn off all the lights. A truly beautiful place

I enjoy a good strawberry daiquiri, they lacked the supplies to make it. Spirits, local beers and wines are your best bet within the all-inclusive. People can get rowdy at the dining hall and it echoed to the rooms, it did impact us waking up for the 5:30 game drive. I did inform the staff, of our disgruntledness and they handled the feedback well. I do hope to visit again with less disturbance. Thanks to all the staff, incl Rassie, Elné and Thapelo.

All of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The dining and kitchen staff, Chris, Veronica, and David were very attentive to our dietary needs/restrictions and all of the food was wonderful. Rassie, our safari guide, knows the park and animals very well and worked with other guides to get us some wonderful and up-close views of several animals. We also learned quite a bit about the animals and their behaviors from him. The lodge is beautiful, and our room was very comfortable and had a lovely view of the surrounding hills.

If you're going on the morning game drive, and are the type of person who needs to eat right away in the morning, I would suggest bringing snacks/nibbles, as there are only light biscuits and refreshments offered before and during the drive.
