Royal Tusker Hotel

Had a fantastic stay at Royal Tusker Hotel Udawalawe! The new pool was a perfect place to unwind, clean, relaxing, and well maintained. The hotel’s great location near the national park made exploring easy, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Comfortable rooms, delicious food, and top-notch service. Would definitely stay again!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the newly renovated Royal Tusker in Udawalawe, and it was an exceptional experience! From the moment I arrived, I could tell that great care and attention to detail went into the renovations. They have a brand new pool perfect spot to relax after a day exploring Udawalawe National Park. The pool area is clean, and very new just finished construction. The rooms are modern, spacious, and well-equipped with all the comforts you need for a relaxing stay. The updated interiors strike a perfect balance between contemporary design and a cozy, inviting feel. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the bathrooms are spotless, with excellent water pressure and hot water. The staff at Royal Tusker deserve special mention. They were warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. Whether it was arranging a safari tour, offering local tips, or providing excellent service at the restaurant, they truly made me feel at home. Speaking of the restaurant, the food was delightful! A mix of local and international dishes, everything was fresh and flavorful. Breakfast by the pool was a particular highlight. Royal Tusker’s location is also a big plus—it’s just a short drive to the national park, making it an ideal base for safari-goers. Overall, the Royal Tusker is a gem in Udawalawe. Whether you're visiting for a safari adventure or simply to relax, this hotel offers a fantastic experience. I can’t wait to return! Rating: 10/10

Royal Tusker Hotel in Udawalawa exceeded my expectations! The food was fresh and delicious, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The pool was clean and inviting—a great place to relax. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and equipped with modern facilities. A wonderful stay overall, and I’d definitely recommend it!

Location is fab and rooms lovely. Safari booked through hotel was fantastic the guide was awesome.

Food was a little disappointing and water only Luke warm for shower.

This place is very beautiful... The setting and decor is really nice... I hate leaving negative feedback but on this occasion I have to... It advertised a pool which was still under construction when we arrived (it will be done now so don't worry if you've booked)... The usual warm friendly welcome was not there sadly... When we asked for drinks and to see a menu we were offered a warm beer, I don't think they were quite set up for the start of the busy tourist season so were not prepared with drinks options etc... There was one young boy who was wonderful though, did his best for us... As a result we left a day early to go on to Ella... The owner asked for my feedback and I was honest with him... It's surprising really as the reviews were so good... Hopefully it was just a one off for us...

Incredible location close to the park entrance with elephants visiting right in front! The staff were kind and eager to help. They even had a beautiful cake made since they knew we were celebrating a birthday.

The pool has not been finished yet so it was unavailable.

The hotel is lovely. The decor is very much safari lodge. It is spotlessly clean and the rooms are large. The bathroom is designed beautifully with a large balcony looking out onto open fields. The breakfast was superb and the best we have had at a hotel since being in Sri Lanka. The staff were wonderful and attentive. The owner and his wife were extremely friendly and generally just lovely people. The hotel organised the safari and it was excellent. The cost the hotel quotes you does not include the entrance to the park, so bear this in mind when you are budgeting.

The only thing that let this property down was the lack of swimming pool. The rooftop pool advertised is no longer there and they are in the process of building a new pool at ground level. The new pool looks beautiful and will be a great addition to to the hotel. The owner said it should be ready in a couple of months.

Fantastic staff. Very helpful and attentive. They organised a private jeep safari for us at comparable prices to other companies and their guide was excellent with their knowledge, use of a book and their own high power Binoculars. The accommodation is lovely, as was breakfast after the safari. Just wished we had more time to enjoy the property.

They do not accept USD cash. It appears almost all properties in Sri Lanka state on booking.com that they accept USD - cash only, and they only accept LKR cash. We learned the hard way at previous properties so when we got to here, we made usee we had LKR.

Location is great, hotel concept and design is pretty.

The bed sheets had holes on them and there is an opportunity with cleanliness.
