Hostel Tupac Yupanqui House

You HAVE to stay here!! I booked this after seeing other reviews of how amazing Carlina is, and I can confirm they’re true! I only stayed here 2 nights and I came to her sick with altitude sickness and she literally nursed me back to health—she felt like my second mom. She also went above and beyond, helping me with my luggage, moving a HEAVY space heater into my room, amongst other things. She also helped me book tours that were cheaper than anywhere else. My only regret is not staying longer because her hospitality was one of the highlights of my trip in Cusco. Aside from Carlina, the rooms are spacious, showers are hot, there’s plenty of sunshine from the big windows (but also curtains if you want to block out the sun).

It’s about a 15-minute walk to the center, but the walk isn’t bad.

Carlina is the most amazing host! She went way above and beyond for our stay- from providing a heater and extra towels to helping us get better when we were both sick from altitude sickness! The breakfast was yummy and the bed comfy. She accommodated our weird arrival times (I booked for the night before since we were arriving at 6 am on PeruHop) and gave assistance with taxis. The best, most personalized host experience I have ever had! We had hot water and a quiet room.

It was a little challenging for our taxi driver to find the location as the street numbers do not flow in order- we keep going and finally found it. It is clearly marked on the outside (there is a gate in front), and GPS gets you close. Bathroom is tight which is typical of our stays in Peru.

Great service, competitive prices for trips, makes you feel very welcome and the rooms are nice and quiet. Very good value for money. Carlina is a very kind and helpful woman.

The host Carlina is so lovely and welcoming. We arrived at 5am, hours before check in, but Carlina was so welcoming, she let us in and allowed us to check in very early. The breakfast was delicious, and was enough food for us to start the day with energy. The room was cleaned daily, we received fresh towels every couple of days and they were attentive to all our questions. The room was very spacious and the comfiest bed we’ve had in all of Peru, and our South America travels. A very home like hotel with a warm environment. They have a beautiful and friendly cat too. We felt safe at the property as it was behind a locked door and only people with a key could enter. The location is inside the city centre, about a 20min walk to the main plaza, a great location as tours pick you up here, but far enough away from all the city noise.

Everything was very clean and there provided housekeeping everyday. The bed was comfy and the breakfast tasty. The host are attentive to every need and so friendly :) they kept our bag when we went to machu pichu. It is just a bit far from centro historico, but very close to peru rail station (train and bus) and peru hop !! Will definitely stay again!!! Thanks for the amazing stay :)

We had an amazing stay at Tupac. The owner super friendly and always provided super helpful information. When we arrived to Cusco we left for 4 days Choquequirao trekking and could store our luggage for free. We came back spend one night there and left to aguas caliente. The hotel was not fully booked this time so we could leave our stuff in our room which was so convenient when we came back. We stayed another 2 nights went to rainbow mountain. There’s a fully equipped kitchen to use and the location is perfect not so noisy and in 12min you’re at the plaza de armas, close to the center and restaurants. Hot water in the shower which is amazing. Highly recommended especially for this price as well.

Extremely clean as we expected.

Amazing room and closed to the shopping and markets. Ms Carlina was extremely lovely and helpful every time we needed assistance. We arrived late and she was maintaining communication until our arrival at 10:00pm. On our last day she kept our personal luggage until we left to the airport. Our breakfast was amazing Carlina made us feel super comfortable during our stay at the property.

People were lovely, attentive and willing to try to please. The location is excellent in San Blas just a short walk or 5 minute cab ride to Plaza de Armas. We were given an electric heater to make our room cozy even without asking. The bed was very comfortable with lots of blankets.
