Upper Grippath Farm Holiday Cottages

Location was good, lovely views. Entrance to property by phone to the gate was easy to use. Didn’t use all the amenities in the cottage but everything you needed was there.

Cleanliness was not great, cobwebs everywhere, a slug was crawling up one of the kitchen cupboards when we got there - probably came in on someone’s shoe or a dog maybe. The shower head in downstairs bathroom needed fixing. Could have done with airing after previous occupants as did not smell good when entering for the first time. If I hadn,t spoken to the owner I wouldn’t have known about the single track roads and exact location. Roads to cottage are very narrow but we didn’t have too many problems.

The kitchen facilities were excellent. The sitting room was clean and comfortable, as were the bedrooms. Amazing views towards Newport from the cottages.

Approach road was a single track with few passing places. Extremely difficult if you meet an oncoming vehicle. Lack of entertainment facilities IE board games, books, cards etc. a cassette/CD player was provided but no cassettes or DVDs.

We liked the location especially as on New Year's Eve we were able to view the firework displays across the valley.

The location was very pretty, beautiful surrounds, and lovely view. The house was big, clean, and equipped for our needs. We took our dog and he had a good time. There was free parking, and the hostess was friendly and made sure we arrived and settled in ok.

Access by very narrow roads

Location was nice and quite with a beautiful view to a lake.

It is a bit challenging to get there, if you are not confident with narrow mountain roads and reversing on them if needed.

Very peaceful. Away from the hustle and bustle.

A basic welcome pack with milk, bread etc would have been very useful considering the location is out in the countryside.
