"Ok for 1 night"

5.0

Close to centre so easy accessible to everything It was a spacious room with everything needed for an overnight stay

The room was noisy, could hear other people's toilet flushing . There was a large congregation of bees outside the window so we couldn't open it . The bed was incredibly squeaky everytime we moved it woke the other 1 up.

"Overall, we enjoyed our stay, had a good breakfast in comfortable surroundings, but that’s probably it."

7.0

Bagdale hotel was good, nice little bar area, lovely old period public area and dining room. Breakfast was good and served promptly.

Stayed in Crab Hall annexe, room 10, looked old and tired, decor could do with updating, toilet had a flush button hanging down from the cistern. Floorboards and bed were constantly creaking, including upstairs, just don’t go to bed early and hope upstairs go to bed before you.

"Location excellent, parking good, bland but adequate room."

6.0

The bed was comfortable, the bathroom of a good standard, everything clean. It had parking too, which was very important in Whitby. We had a a ground floor room, which is also useful to access straight from the carpark. It was just on the edge of town, so very accessible to go back to quickly. The location is its biggest strength. The breakfast in the nearby and much older Bagdale Hall was excellent and the staff there were all lovely.

It was just lacking some 'love'. Everything was bland - basic cream, the pictures where faded, the room was 'tired'. It had a door that could have opened onto the patio, but had a big sign on it saying not to use. There was tea / coffee, but the kettle was on its way out. For £150 per night, I'd have expected more styling, rather than a slightly tired seaside B&B that was last shown any attention around 20 years ago. It just felt like it was 'ticking a box' - not much you could actively object too, but needs a refresh and a bit of theming maybe - there are some beautiful artwork in Whitby, so why a tired view of a Victorian parlour? We never saw any staff in the building that we were staying in - they were all based at Bagdale Hall, which is 2 Georgian town houses away, so very close. The nearby Bagdale Hall was clearly where all the attention was spent, but a bit of thought in this space would have gone a long way.
