The goats

Where do I start? The property description needs way more detail and transparency and definitely more photos - including ones of the facilities. In this way, you will be able to make up your mind about the place. Take ‘beach’, ‘bar’, sea views’ and ‘garden’ with a pinch of salt. The shepherds huts are basic and tired. We felt intimidated by the dogs upon arrival who barked and chased the car. I appreciate they are working dogs and it is their home. They are probably very nice, but warning/explanation needs to be given. We chose the place as it was ‘pet friendly’ but in reality the free ranging resident dogs and goats in the caravan area made it an impossibility for us to stay with our dog, who would not have coped with this situation (again, more explanation of the set up is needed in the description) However, the place is not the main problem. It is the belligerent attitude of the owner, who shows complete contempt for his customers. We requested a refund having only booked a few hours before ( I admit it said non refundable upon booking but proprietors have the ability to override this) We received a phone call from him consisting of him ranting and basically disregarding any issues we had. He hardly let us speak - he just shouted over us. He told me to drive back and tell him what was wrong face to face. He did the same when my husband took over the phone. I have never witnessed such a shocking attitude from someone claiming to have a foot in the hospitality industry! So confrontational. So aggressive. For an establishment so new to booking.com it is in real need of taking heed of constructive feedback. And, no, in case you were wondering, we were never expecting a Travelodge. And we live in the countryside, in a farming community, so we know what rural life is like. We just wanted a decent experience with some customer care, for our hard earned money. We didn’t get it. Or our money back. So, come prepared to ‘like’ everything, or else…..

"After 8 days I didn't want to leave. It felt like home"

This campsite is on the coastal path around Wales. Walk one way to the village of Dale, or the other to Sandy Haven or Milford Haven. If you are driving/motorbiking/cycling the location is close to the whole Pembrokeshire Coast from Fishguard to Tenby.

"Very basic for £55 ish a night."

4.0

The advert said dogs were welcome but the owners three dogs were running around loose. At one stage felt vulnerable because one dog tried to bite mine on two occasions and yes mine was on a lead . There was no one to meet and allocate accomodation just a phone number. The toilet block was dire needing up dating. The huts were very dated and basic. Although on the Pembroke coast line the oil refinery seem to take up the horizon. The village pub didn't do food on a Saturday night 😭

Lovely rustic caravan- nicely equipped.

Bathroom was not great and the area outside it smelt like an open sewer

"One step up from camping, in a great location for coastal footpath"

5.0

The shepherd's hut was clean and comfortable, and the owner was friendly and helpful.

Shower and WC would benefit from an upgrade. For this reason a little overpriced for what it was.

"Don't expect much down on the farm."

3.0

The local area. The dogs, goats and sheep.

The toilet block was always flooded with water. There was one toilet facing 2 urinals. Very strange! There were no dishwashing facilities. There were no signs for how to access the coastal path. In fact there's no direct access to it from the camping field. Why it's called 'Coastal Path Camping' when there's no access is rather odd. We weren't given a key until we asked, then got a padlock, so we could only lock up when we weren't inside the shepherd's hut. The doors blew open during the night. The hut doors aren't rain proofed either. The description of the hut as having a 'private bathroom' and outdoor dining area was misleading. These didn't exist. Rose and Jane were very helpful, but the farmer was not at all. I hope some of the safety issues are dealt with before next season. Such as the large screw heads inside the shower...at the height of a child. And, adequate lighting on paths. The farmer raced around the camping field on his quad bike or in his truck. He actually ran over one of his goats. This could easily have been a child. I believe this was their first season, so I hope these matters are fixed for the future, though we won't be going back. One of four shepherd's huts in a field adjacent to a working farm. A great location to get away from it all. The neighbours were Highland cattle and goats - all kept their distance.

Some cleaning items such as squeegee would be welcome for the shower block and for wiping out the Shepherd's hut.
