Central Asia Hotel

Beautiful hotel, charming and very clean room, excelent service, delicious breakfast. The owners are very helpul and friendly, in addition this hotel is located in the heart of Bukhara at a walking distance of most sights. I highly recommend it.

Everything is good. The room is quite spacious. Hot water for shower is stable for quite long time. Location is very near to old historical complex (5 minutes walk). Very friendly owner. They let me to check-in earlier and check-out later than the stated time. If I come back to Bukhara I will stay here again.

Great value for money

It is a new beautiful family hotel in a traditional style. several rooms are fully ready and few are in making. Everything was great: nice, clean, solid breakfast (not buffet but still very diverse one). The owners are a young local family trying to step by step develop their hospitality business. For a small price they gave us an auto tour through most of the attraction places in and outside the city. Since we had only one day in Bukhara it was super helpful.

The breakfast was diverse and tasty. Summary: Despite the ornate photos, very basic property, with rude and inhospitable staff. Strongly recommend reading the below if considering here. I don’t typically write bad reviews, but sadly this was the worst experience I have had while staying in a hotel, and I think I owe it to other prospective guests to have all of the facts before considering their stay here. The location itself is about 10 minutes walk into town, located down and dark, but not busy side road. It is less of a hotel and more of a guest-house, verging on home stay. The rooms are ornately decorated, but beyond that the facilities are basic compared to comparable places I’ve stayed at with the same price point (simple things like bottled water and hairdryer were missing, and shampoo and body wash weren’t provided until asked for, the body wash being hand soap really). While I was staying there were some construction works happening on the floor above, but to the owners credit, these stopped by bed time so there was little disturbance in this regard. The owners themselves live on the ground floor, and if your room is situated on the ground floor like mine was it could be quite noisy with the sound of screaming children and shouting at times. In terms of cleanliness it was okay, but the fitted sheets were too small for the mattress which meant I was lying on the bare mattress at times during the night which wasn’t particularly hygienic. My main grievance with this place is due to the poor behaviour of the owners. During check in, I was asked to pay for the whole stay, but that they did not accept card. I didn’t have enough money for whole stay at the time it was agreed that I would pay the following day. The next day I withdrew cash as agreed, and went and did some sightseeing. When I returned in the evening there was no one to be found at reception so I went to my room for the evening.

I was awoken at 10.15pm with loud knocking on my door, and after getting dressed found the owners wife at my door demanding the money for the stay. I was in disbelief. Of course I paid the money which I had with me, but explained that this was very rude. Due to her limited English, she put her husband on the phone, for what I assumed was an apology. Instead I got accusations that this was my fault, and when I mention that this would impact my review, he exploded telling me to “act like a man” and “this is behaving like a woman”. I ended the conversation there. The following day I checked out, and again the owner insisted on speaking to me, but instead of apologising he threatened me with a “penalty” for the supposed privilege of being awoken in the middle of the night for money. I still cannot understand how this behaviour is appropriate or why this could simply not wait until the morning. This falls well below the standards of basic civility let alone the brilliant hospitality that I experienced else were in Uzbekistan. Please save your money and the headache and stay in once of the many better placed in Bukhara for a comparable price point (as I would know having stayed elsewhere). I was also overcharge which I only realised later after leaving as quickly as I could.
