"Another lovely short break at The Lodge."

8.0

We've stayed here quite a few times. It suits us as we bring our dog. It's clean, comfortable, and has everything we need for a short stay. It's a lovely rural location on the outskirts of Walberswick, which can easily be walked to across heathland.

It would be really nice to have slightly bigger and better towels (the hand towels are fine) but the larger ones are still pretty small.

The Lodge is in a great location for visiting Walberswick and Southwold. It's a value for money venue. The contents and facilities in the room are not high-end, but it was clean, comfortable, and well thought out. We had a much larger room than expected and even a small sofa. There were some provisions left for a continental breakfast and a kettle, toaster, and fridge with an ice compartment. Good news on a day with 32-degree temperatures. There are mentions of an untidy outside space in other reviews, but it is a working farm and had a nice space at the front of the house and plenty of parking. You can walk into Walberswick but it was quite a busy road for somewhere that is a dead end, presumably with people heading to onecof the two lovely pubs or to access the dunes at Walberswick or the ferry or walking route to Southwold. There are alternatives to getting to Walberswick on public footpaths, one across the common from further up the road after the house and one opposite the house, which connects to a quieter road going into Walberswick. Just a warning, though, it's further than you think to actually get to the coast, pubs, and tearooms as the village is very spread out. It's a beautiful village, a bit like stepping back in time, with hollyhocks outside the cottage gardens. We really enjoyed our stay and found it ideal for our needs.

Squeaky bathroom door, traffic on the road in the daytime, it went quiet at night, so didn't disturb our sleep.

"Comfortable accommodation in a good location to explore the area."

Comfortable beds and flat felt cosy.

There was no sink in the kitchen area (a bowl provided to get water from the bathroom).
