The Lodge

This is a wonderful place to stay. A stone’s throw away from southwold and Aldeburgh. It is spacious and very well appointed (I’d happily live there!). It is simply furnished but you want for nothing. Plenty of hot water for showers, a good size kitchen, a nice lounge and comfy beds.

The Wi-Fi was intermittent but it wasn’t the end of the world.

We stayed on the Ground floor, so benefitted from two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and bathroom - each had a rustic charm and was clean, tidy and had a homely feel. The kitchen is well stocked, with all the utensils and pots and pans you could want.

The facilities are a little basic - but at this price it would be churlish to expect much more. The shower was a little too small, and the water seemed to come and go in waves while showering. It took me a llittle while to work out how to use the telly too - but I think a previous occupant had left it in an odd setting, and the cable had come out of the back. Once sorted it worked fine - it's just in an odd place, completely perpendicular to the sofa. But like I say, small things in the overall scheme of things

Really great accommodation. Everything you could possibly need. Great location, spacious, clean and comfortable.

Simple, ideal for our needs. Fridge was most welcome.

The plumbing is noisy - people upstairs running water at all hours

The cupboard on the living room had a water pump for the building which was very loud when other guests were using water. Wooden staircase also loud from other guests, both of which made it difficult with a 4 month old baby

I could talk for days about how brilliant The Lodge is!! This is our second time staying here and it is just as brilliant as before. The bedrooms are immaculate and the bed is extremely comfy! My partner and I stayed in the twin room but didn’t mind at all having our own separate comfy beds tee hee! The Lodge is great value for money too, with a big spacious bathroom, washing up facilities, little Kitchenette area, fresh breakfast and tea items, tables, armchairs, nice views of the farm, great parking and a big lawn for our dog to play in. The dog charge is also only £10 which I think is brilliant as we have been charged £30 a night in previous places! Our dog loves it here too and enjoys the lawn. We briefly met the cleaner this time who is really lovely and kind. The location is great and if you hire bikes it is less than a 5 minute cycle into Walberswick. We even were able to deliver a last minute parcel here which arrived in a designated parcel box! The house is really simple to get into with the key code and key boxes, and we found that with the thick stone walls we barely heard any other guests. We really hope that this place stays here for a long time as we will now come here every year without fail. We haven’t stopped talking to everyone about how brilliant this place is and we really thank you to the owners/cleaners for all the effort you put into making this place so brilliant. (We would also love to know if you make your butter yourself as it is fab!!)

Nice sized room very near to Walberswick and Southwold, at a very reasonable rate.

Stairs up to room not too steep, but can knock your head on ceiling part way up.
