Aayu Hanthana Boutique Hotel

This is a very “Instagramable” hotel, but lacks so much.

It’s located 15mins from Kandy up very steep roads which tuktuk’s don’t like going up, so very difficult getting to and from the hotel. Pool looks ok, but there isn’t anywhere to really sit and relax wet or sunbathe if you want to after a day in the very busy dirty city. The room smelt of mould, and was constantly damp which isn’t good for your clothes or health. TV on the wall, but the power cable can’t reach any plug socket - obviously there for athletics.

The resort is well located and close to a reserved forest.

Be prepared to travel to other end of city. Could do well to improve on the cleanliness of rooms.

Lovely stay. Staff and management was lovely and very friendly. Food was good and good location to the town! Bed was very comfy I had the best sleep while traveling around Sri Lanka

It really is in the jungle, very quiet from traffic as you’d expect but don’t underestimate the jungle noise ;), staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Organised Tuktuk drivers and trips. Great views and very big rooms with nice seating corner. Waking up in the tropics - wonderful! Very nice breakfast, dinner and tea, fruit juices for reasonable prices. The jungle came with frogs in bathroom and giant moths sometimes in the room, so 100% tropical vibe.

The interior is “industrial” so from a closer look it doesn’t look clean (cobwebs, spots from painting) and it looks unfinished (walls, floors ..). The bathroom also never dried within our 3 nights (leaking toilet and washbasin didn’t help)

Beautiful, tranquil setting with views of the rainforest, lovely and quiet outside the busy centre of Kandy. It is a 5minute drive into Kandy centre, and easy to arrange a tuk tuk to travel in. The staff were very friendly and eager to help, nothing was too much trouble. The room was huge with a lovely balcony. We enjoyed a wonderful local breakfast in the morning.

I would have liked to have tea/coffee making supplies available in the room, rather than having to come to the communal area to make this.

Beautifully decorated property with a plunge pool , up in the hills away from the heat of Kandy. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They recommended us a tuktuk driver who was brilliant and also took us on a trip to the botanical gardens. Huge room with a lovely bathroom and strong hot shower. We enjoyed the 50-60 min downhill walk to the city. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Some tuktuk drivers wouldn’t go up as far as the hotel and pretended to know where it was when they didn’t , but we navigated them with google maps so it worked out ok.

Everyone very friendly. The location was away from the city traffic and noise. Only possible with TukTuk or driver. Hotel organized everything for us (city tour, train tickets etc.), everything worked well and on time. We were escorted to the room in the evening as the jungle is next door.

No air conditioning in the room. A certain but bearable humidity in the room due to continuous rain in the last few days. Only stayed one night
