Aayu Hanthana Boutique Hotel

The service was excellent. The place was very relaxed and quiet .

We loved our stay at Aayu Hanthana, great location outside of the busy center of Kandy but still within a 10 min drive. Great room to relax in, and the bathroom was simply perfect. We were welcomed and helped by Oshan with a lot of smiles. Thanks Oshan, and rest of the staff!

The property is in a very quiet part of Kandy and the design and interior is really nice, however it is sometimes tricky to het tuktuk or taxi to find a place.

Our experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. While the check-in process was smooth, everything went downhill on the second day. After our friends from another room checked out, the staff helped move their luggage to our room since their flight was later in the evening. When they returned to freshen up briefly before leaving, the manager barged into our room, yelled at us, and threatened to call the police, despite our attempts to explain and resolve the situation. His behavior was aggressive, rude, and unprofessional. Additionally, the cleanliness of the room was unacceptable—we found cockroaches on the bathroom floor. We left the hotel a night early because we no longer felt safe or welcome, but the manager refused to refund us for the unused night. This was by far the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had.

The location is too far from the city centre, there is no good view to see the mountains. There is no milk provided for tea and coffee. Room is too dark not enough lighting very gloomy atmosphere.

Our experience at this hotel in Sri Lanka was nothing short of a nightmare. The front desk manager, visibly intoxicated and aggressive, verbally attacked us in an utterly shocking manner. This individual, who claimed to be a former military soldier, escalated the situation to the point where the police had to be involved. To their credit, the authorities apologized to us on behalf of Sri Lanka, but the incident left us deeply unsettled. Following this ordeal, our friends canceled their remaining two nights, but the hotel refused to refund the money, demonstrating a complete lack of accountability. The matter is now being handled by Booking.com. To add insult to injury, the property itself was poorly maintained, with cockroaches present in the rooms—a detail we might have overlooked had the hospitality been decent. Unfortunately, it was far from it. We recorded the incident as none of us could believe what we had witnessed. On a scale of 1 to 10, this experience deserves a resounding -10. A stay to forget, if only we could.

The property even if a bit outside of Kandy, you can have the real jungle experience, beautiful surroundings. The room is spacious amd comfortable

The location was bit difficult to access, tuk tuks don’t like to go to the mountains trip and they don’t pick up ‘Pickme’ requests.
