Nice cottage, good furnishings and loads of space

Description of house and location could have been clearer - I called to a few wrong houses before

Breakfast not applicable. Convenient location with a good view of the abbey from the property - just a short walk away. Within a few minutes' drive from Thomastown that has a good range of shops. Hosts very helpful, we had some lovely chats with his mum - a lovely lady. Given the property has only recently been used for holiday accommodation (and is 'work in progress'), it is very well organised and nicely decorated. The furniture and decorative items were well chosen including some glass items from the local glass studio. Plenty of bedding, towels etc.

For us, the road was too busy and meant that we could hear the traffic, we therefore had to close the bedroom windows at night which is not our preference. We had an issue with a lack the hot water for the bathroom basin, Patrick will resolve this - but we used the shower which was good. There are a few things to finish off including the bathroom door. We would suggest a blind on the bathroom velux window and, as the bedroom is in the loft area, a fan would be useful especially with the windows closed. Also, it would be nice to have a table lamp or two in the lounge/kitchen area so that you could have a softer light when relaxing - especially in the winter when there is no natural light in the evenings.

Nice quiet enough location view of Jerpoint Abbey, and I'd recommend visiting the abbey. Close to Thomastown and Kilkenny town. The stove is good for heating the place in winter. It's a nice cosy kitchen and living area. Perfect size for a couple. The air fryer is great and I had never used one before. Hosts had prepared the place very well with everything ready to make tea with biscuits, plenty of fuel for the stove. The house was nice and clean.

The mattress was a bit soft. The radiator or water pipes (or maybe something else) made a loud noise which woke us up several times during the night. Maybe the heating could be adjusted to prevent this, we only stayed one night. Also we're both light sleepers so maybe others would sleep through it. Over all it's a lovely place to stay.
