Holiday cottage BEPPU ICHIYA

Staying in this guesthouse is like being in a Japanese movie set with its tatami floors and traditional Japanese architecture. The entire place was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and its location is very convenient - a few minutes away from the train station, bus station, stores and shopping malls, onsens and restaurants. The host was great from the moment we made the reservation, responding right away to our every question, sending us very clear check in instructions, and even greeting us with very special welcome presents.

Thanks host for the free bath tickets, really kind of him. Kitchen is well equipped and house was clean. Instructions and infos given were very clear.

Ceiling is quite low, taller people need to be careful at all time when walking around.

The hotel is clean and tidy as a whole. The kitchen has an oven, microwave, refrigerator, gas stove, electric water heater, many charging ports, and the washer and dryer is also very easy to use. They also give free hot spring tickets (a great experience in the public bathhouse) and provide us with welcome drinks, which is very thoughtful!

Lovely home in Beppu. My wife and I stayed with our eleven year old son - and it was spacious, clean, and offered everything we needed for several days. The host is friendly - and there are clear instructions in English and Japanese all over the home. There’s a convenience store next door, and a large mall just 10 minutes away walking distance. One of the beaches is about 15 minutes away on foot. The living area upstairs was really nice - we spent time watching shows when we were tired in the evening. Would recommend this place if you have a family and are visiting Beppu.

This place had all the amenities you could think of. Very thoughtful with everything from suggestions and places to visit, closest supermarkets/convenient stores and even free onsen bath tickets which we unfortunately didn't have time to use. The free bassinet provided was very handy for our 9 month old. Joh's place was very clean and spacious. The kitchen was the highlight, we were able to cook delicious meals using all the kitchen tools available. Joh was also extremely responsive, even at 9pm at night when we heard a random chime and panicked. Lawson is literally a 30 second walk away. I would highly recommend staying here and wouldn't hesitate to rebook his place again.

We used the property as a family of 3, and we were happily surprised with the wide space we had for living. The living room especially was very comfortable. We had everything we needed and more, and the rooms were filled with kind notes from the owner giving pieces of advice and tips about the usage in Japan as well as the surroundings. The owner was also very friendly and very responsive.

Very well equipped. The place has everything you need and it’s excellent to stay when you have small children with you as you are able to cook and do laundry. The host is super considerate to prepare information of Beppu on site, and also many drinks as complimentary. We feel very warm welcomed. Parking available on the site also makes it so much easier for us.

Property insulation is not so good so we need to put on heaters to keep the place warm.

A very well-appointed guest house. Within walking distance from the station. It is spacious and comfortable. Also has a great little kitchen if you want to prepare your own meals. It ticked all the boxes!!

We didn't grumble about much at all!
