Misty Peaks Cottage

Met the owners who are not usually there. They seem very nice people. Access and parking was good.

The place was far too small. The bathroom was only 900mm wide and the hand basin was so small it was difficult to clean teeth and even hand wash caused water on the floor. Wifi was totally insufficient and under the circumstances a smart TV is a complete waste if time. We felt so cramped that we only stayed one night out of the two we booked.

The location was the only thing to be liked of the whole property.

There were a number of things that we did not like! 1) When we booked in Jan ‘24, the photos on the Booking.com website showed a table and chairs inside by the patio door. They were no longer inside, their replacement was a small breakfast bar slightly wider than an A4 folder plus 2 wooden high stools facing a wall!! Lovely view to enjoy whilst eating. If we had been advised of this change we would have cancelled our booking. In fact the current advertising still shows the furniture as it was. 2) The hand basin in the bathroom was incredibly small not much bigger than my iPhone, as the photo shows. It was impossible to wash upper arms, face and neck which could only be done in the shower! 3) The bedroom was so small that to get into bed I had to walk sideways along the wall. 4) The property was so small that we could only take one case inside which we kept in the small wardrobe, the remainder of our luggage had to be left in the car. 5) Saying that it is a Cottage is very misleading as it creates an image which this property is not.

Good location, it was very clean and the kitchen had a lot of stuff

Overlooks an open pasture with a heli-pad in the distance, green space on three sides, so very quiet - lots of birds around. Sunset view was excellent and peaceful. Very close to first rate Lake Matheson Cafe (sticky pancakes on the deck overlooking the Alps!) & Short Walks. Down the road from best resto-pub in area, Betsy Jane’s. Had a good kitchen area, OK bath & sitting area + a little front porch for sitting.

No one around, so took a few minutes to find the unit tucked-away by itself out back behind main building.

While lovely and quaint it was a little big small but not a major fault.
