Evrything was better than we expected. Next time we need a ground floor room.

Really friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere with a very nice restaurant area. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. Bedroom was large and as you'd expect for the style of hotel. Lovely and warm inside, and felt safe and secure.

The shower. The shower head was clearly old and leaky and provided more of a trickle than a shower. Disappointing for a room described as delux. However, the rest of our stay did out weigh this one issue by far.

The room was a reasonable size and the bed was very comfortable

The whole building is very tired and in need of renovation including the hanging baskets and flowers outside which have all been left to die in their pots. In the corridor through to our room,the fire doors were warped so couldnt shut properly and had split wooden panels you could see daylight through.The windows which were dirty had old cob webs in the corners with dead flies There were also cob webs hanging down from the emergency lighting. The first impression of our room was good with new carpet,clean paintwork and nice curtains.However the wooden window frames had some rot and the net curtains were frayed at the edges.When i opened the wardrobe the door fell off its hinges! In the bathroom the eletrical connector to the towel rail is broken and looks like it has been for some time. The extractor fan was extremely noisy and the louvres full of dust. The cold water from the sink tap came out warm and when the person in the next room used a tap the water system was very noisy. In the dining room it took half an hour before our order was taken and about 45 minutes for the food to arrive after that. At the time there were only 3 tables to serve and everyone was complaining about the wait. My wife had the sea bream with "sea vegetables" which turned out to be 4 strands of samphire , 2 new potatoes and a side dish of........ potatoes! A bit pricey at over £20. We did get a 10% reduction on the price of dinner. Breakfast is served from 8.00am.On the first morning we were the only table but the chef hadnt turned up. The 2 waitresses were very apologetic and said they might have to cook breakfast themselves! The chef turned up at 8.15. My wife who is dairy intollerent ordered poached eggs and smoked salmon on toast with no hollandaise sauce.You've guessed it, it turned up covered in sauce so had to be remade. I had the full breakfast which was very good. On the second night we chose not to eat in the restaurant ! And so on........

Mixed feelings, where the place feels like it’s had a bit of a revamp it was pricey for a nights stay.

The room was ok but a bit tatty in places but was warm and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom….shower curtain in the bath which sticks to you and shower head fixed so annoying if around 5’11”

Staff friendly & welcoming. Excellent customer service.

Food was good.

The beds wee old & uncomfortable & the room & bathroom were somewhat cold. Coffee at breakfast tasted as though it was made 2 hours before service started it's not difficult to make fresh filter coffee & keep it HOT.

It was warm and clean

The decor was very tired. Our room was warm and clean but the window didn’t shut, there were building materials stored right outside which blocked any view, the net curtains were torn and grey, the table top was damaged, the bath had stains on, the sealant on the bath was mouldy, the bath plug didn’t stay down so I couldn’t have a bath, the water from the sink was boiling hot and didn’t go cold. The tea and coffee facilities were very basic - no biscuits - tasteless tea. The door was very difficult to shut. The corridor to the room (which was at rear of the main building) looked neglected and tatty
