Excellent location close to Karkloof Country Club for Mtb riding & Trail running. Very peaceful with lovely gardens & scenic outlook. We'll equipped cottage & loved the fact that it is pet friendly.

Great location, a short drive on a good road out of Howick and you feel like you’re in the midlands. Very convenient check in and check out and nice simple room.

Nothing really, we had a great stay

Loved the huge trees and the enclosed little garden around the rondavel, perfect for a dog companion. Loved the outdoor fire basket.

We loved our walks around the farm and the beautiful surrounding scenery. it was so peaceful. Crane cottage also has a very traditional English cottage feel to it which makes cozy nights by the fire place truly ideal.

If you're looking for easy access to the Midlands shops and cafes it is a little bit of a drive to get to the.main road. It's not that long, but we would have liked to be a little closer to where most of the Midlands activities are.

Such a beautiful stay. A+ to the landscapers as well, they did a great job using the gardens to create privacy. The family lives nearby and they were helpful and welcoming. It's also an active farm, so there's an authentic country element to the stay. The room (Rondovel) was clean and well put together. Nearby there are walking trails and outdoor activities to do. You're about 20 mins out of town which makes you feel secluded but also near enough to run to town for groceries or restaurants. The country club is also 5-10 mins drive and they have mountain biking, food, and place to socialize.

Small issues- The kitchen isn't very large in the Rondovel and the hot plate is placed awkwardly. If you're planning on cooking the whole stay, I'd think about that. There also isn't a good place to mount the fan that reaches the bed. Google maps will take you the wrong way if you use directions. You want to drive along the main road until you hit the Gartmore driveway, don't leave the main road early like google says. There are also open windows and doors, so you will get the occasional bug in the hut. That's not an issue for me at all, but remember you are staying out in the country.
