We weren't sure how Mundo Viajero Saphy had got any bad reviews as we had such a wonderful stay! It has a definite Airbnb style atmosphere rather than a formal hotel, which we loved. And it's great for those on a budget. The hotel owners are lovely and are always on hand and happy to help. They provided advice on nearby attractions, kindly surprised us with a table for breakfast in our room, and even found me painkillers at 4am for altitude sickness (massively appreciated). The hotel is very secure with a main padlocked gate that is manually unlocked/relocked as every guest comes and goes. There's never a point when the hotel isn't physically locked - always a reassuring touch. You are just a 5 to 10 minute walk from the centre of Cusco and all the main plaza action. We found it very well-located and walked back safely at night thanks to its well-lit location on a popular big road. While I was travelling with my partner this time, it's the sort of place I'd look for when travelling solo. It was clean, safe, and very welcoming.

The other is very polite and tries to help. She communicates regularly, though no English. She waited for me even when I arrived around midnight and helped my get out for tours at 3am.

Don't get much excited, as it's a very basic budget hostel, so you get what you pay for. Just a basic room with bed and toilet, no frills, not even soap, toilet paper, mirror or towel, so bring your own.

It is loocated not too very far from the center, and on a turistic street with access to many local restaurants, markets and other places. The price is very reasonable, and the personnal was very frinedly and helpful.

Do not expect something very fancy, it is good if you don't stay for longer periods on the hotel. the room was quite small and the building itself a bit old.
