McCarthy's Westport

nice friendly staff, the room was extremely cold when we were first in and the heater didn't work properly (i tried to turn it on but only the top part went warm a little) but we were there for a short stay and everything was nice

they need to check heaters, the room was ice cold :)

The location was excellent.

Since we were there in the autumn, it could have used a bit more heat.

Very comfortable place and in walking distance to any part of town. Lovely living room with tea/coffee facilities and a great super valu only across the road to grab a sandwich.

Couldn't fault anything

The location was great, being close to the downtown area and a park commonly used for walking and riding. Also, the pub to which the lodging was attached was a great place to have a drink or listen to music, although it offered no food.

There was a TV on the wall that must be the smallest sized TV ever made ... it looked almost comical being against this large wall. That was not a particularly big deal as we did not watch much TV; other things were more problematic. The bed was not particularly comfortable. The shower was horrible. We tried setting a temperature, but instead it cycled from scalding hot to freezing cold, and the only time you could actually be under the water was when it was moving between one of these two extremes. There was a common area where you could get water for coffee and tea; the water came out brown, which either was rust or other contaminants.

The accommodation was situated in a convenient location - we like how it was right ahead of the entrance to Westport House estate. The room was clean and comfortable too. The bed was easy to sleep in and the shower had plenty of hot water. Moreover, the staff at the bar were very friendly and approachable.

No issues and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a room facing the road and the noise of traffic woke us up early in the morning but this isn't the establishment's fault and it really wasn't an issue because the road wasn't too busy usually.

The place was handy for us only problem was sink water didn't drain away only very very slowly but other than that we loved the place ❤️

Room was very spacious and clean, there’s a bar with live music and the staff were amazing, everybody made me feel so welcome!
